Or adjustments that I can ask for when I have my appt. at the Hearing Specialist?
I presently have Starkey Genesis AI 24 and as much as I wish I loved/liked them…I do not. It’s been almost 3 months and I am so frustrated! They have a mind of their own, I tell ya, and it seems the more I try and keep the settings I set from going back to what they think my environment is…it’s to no avail.
If I am having a conversation and my phone happens to ring in the other room, these automatically ‘turn off’ so I can’t hear what the other person is saying anymore…I guess the aids just assume I need to hear my phone ringing even tho I may not answer it! I know to make sure the microphone is on a little bit in settings but no matter that I save the setting to let me hear some outside ‘noise’, (Starkey tech guys were helpful in this regard letting me know about this), that setting still won’t stay put despite saved!
I am solo, not in a lot of social settings, and I stream just about everything on my iphone…TV shows, podcasts, video, music and I often will also do other things at the same time whether gardening, cleaning the house etc. With these, I cannot do anything else that may also create some noise, like vacuuming, because the quality is so bad that I cannot hear the podcast etc, well at all. (My old standbys, Kirkland Rexton aids, automatically increase the volume of what I am listening to, so I can still hear but the vacuum or whatever doesn’t overpower/compete with what I’m listening to. I would LOVE something that does this but some I have tried do not).
I’m not looking for perfection in streaming but would like just some better quality in voice and clarity, and not sounding like in a metal tunnel with a pillowcase over my head. So looking to either replace these or have ideas what to tell the specialist at appt. (who I think feels I am a pain at this point because…how could I NOT like these top-of-the-line aids!?)
I’ll stop complaining now as I could go on but any input would be great.
Thanks so much!
