Anyone have any experience suing “shells/custom fit mold” in their hearingaids? My audi wants me to try them in my new Phonak Audeo Q90’s. I’ve only used RIC’s but he thinks with my hearing getting worse (much more difficulty distinguishing S Nd F beginning words words these will help along with some training seasons with him along with a software program LACE. Anyway, if any of you have any experience with this style ear insert I would really appreciate your sharing with me either + or -.
Thanks, Jim
The custom molds will be more comfortable than the domes that you’re using now. Depending on the power level of the receiver you have, Phonak can make you a SlimTip Hard/Soft or cShell Hard/Soft. Other earmold manufacturers such as Westone and Microsonic also offer RIC molds:
I have the slim tips. They are much more comfortable than the domes. My audi thought the soft ones were not very good. More problems and they tend to wear out.
I’ve got the hard slimtips with canal locks. Work great.
Once you use molds you won’t want to go back to domes. I have micro molds and they are very comfortable to the point you don’t know they are in your ears.
Thanks very much for the feedback.
What I’m experiencing this morning is pretty much the status quo. The sounds I hear all around me sound pretty normal but my voice sounds like I’m speaking in a cave or large empty airline hanger. My audie tells me it’s my voice banging around inside my head (my words not his)) I should get the new molds that Phonak has shrunk so they will fit and be more comfortable. Your input is very encouraging and I will certainly keep them in mind. One thing for sure…if the audie can’t fit me up I’ll not tolerate discomfort and the feeling that my ears have been stuffed full of of a block of gunk or something for what these cost. I
The audie and Phonak customer service say’s they can sync my new Audeo Q90’s with old MYPilot remote and also my iCom/TV Link. That’ll save me a few bucks. cross fingers…
Thanks again and I’ll try and keep you up to date with my ongoing quest for new state of the arthearing aids.
I welcome any constructive questions or further input your willing to share.
Jim
