Hi I’m going away and recently brought the dry box with capsules so as i don’t have to take my plug in d dry with me but i don’t know how many times you can use the drying capsules before you have to dispose of them if anyone could let me know i would be grateful
My audiologist told me to replace mine every 3 months - that’s using the charger that came with my Marvel 90Rs
So these are disposable, rather than the kind you “refresh” in the microwave from time to time?
Yes…………………………………………
I’m not sure they are the phonak d dry capsules and beaker and i can’t find any instructions in the packaging
Mine are not Phonak drying capsules - they are Amplifon Drying Capsules that I buy from my Audiologist - they are disposable.
The colour changes when they have absorbed maximum moisture, either going darker or lighter-sorry I can’t remember which way round it is. When you open them check the colour and then when this has changed you know it’s time to replace it.
I don’t know if this is helpful I used to be a chemist and I believe the ingredient in the drying capsule is silica gel. You could just put a little packet of silica gel in there and it would work just the same. You can recharge silica gel by heating it just Google it it’s all over the internet. The silica gel packets are widely available and most people throw them away when they get an item and find one in the Box
How often you replace these depends on the relative humidity of where they live. I replace them every two weeks, which is too short in winter and too long in summer. Yes, they usually have an indicator, turning from dark yellow into pale white. They can be regenerated. Do not use a near-empty microwave oven for this, as these must not operate when empty for some reason. About an hour at 140°C in a regular oven will do. I do this batchwise, then storing the pods in seperate, small airtight containers.
