I want to share a frustrating experience I’ve had with my hearing aids. Five years ago, I became interested in improving my hearing with hearing aids. Since then, I’ve interacted with about 6 or 7 healthcare professionals during various trials.
Honestly, it’s been quite a rollercoaster. I’ve encountered numerous mistakes, many of which I had to point out and correct repeatedly. These errors ranged from using incorrect audiograms to choosing the wrong domes for my hearing aids. At times, I even found myself frustrated after hearing a HCP call a Real Ear Measurement (REM) ‘stupid.’
Initially, I wondered if the problem was with me, but then I started to think that I had just stumbled upon an unfortunate HCP. Now, I’m beginning to believe that the entire sector might not be receiving adequate training.
I feel bad for people using ill-fitted hearing aids, and thank goodness I found this forum. It has really improved my understanding of hearing aids and has significantly improved my hearing!
