I’m trying to update the firmware on my HAs and Connexx says the firmware is current. My audiologist installed new firmware last time I was in several months that added some new bluetooth features but it also caused new connection problems where bluetooth often just isn’t connected when I receive or place a call. It seems random and is a daily occurrence and is why I’m hoping for a firmware update. It takes up to a month to get an appointment so that’s why I’ve been hoping I could do an update myself.
I recently installed Connexx (September I think) and it immediately updated to what was then the current version and I think it’s still on that same version. It is currently 9.8.0.158 and database 9.8.0.424.
I know there’s an updater tool and I thought Connexx automatically checks for updates when it starts but I have yet to see that beyond the day I originally did the install and it fetched the latest version. When I try and start the updater manually, after licking on it nothing seems to happen.
Now tying the Connexx Updates and the Firmware updates together, I wonder if the really is new firmware available but my system is just not aware of it and telling me the firmware is current. The current firmware on the HAs is 20.15.540.2.
I’m kinda stuck so hoping someone can tell me if I do in fact have the current versions of Connexx and HA firmware, and why I don’t seem to be getting Connexx updates?
The good news is I got the software updated and sure enough there was a firmware update available which is now successfully applied. What was odd is I went back to my computer and there was a message to apply a new Connexx update. I don’t know if that was dumb luck or something that happened when I tried to run the update manager earlier. So I never got to perform the updates as you suggested to learn how to do it manually so it will have to wait until next time.
I’m a very happy camper now and will be even happier when I find that the firmware fixes the bluetooth problems.
Thanks for your help. This is really a game changer to be able to perform these tasks myself!
Is that the reason you updated the firmware, bluetooth issues? I’ve not had any with Bluetooth, what issues were you having?
Are using Android or iPhone.
Sorry for the belated response. I don’t seem to be getting emails to responses to this thread so I didn’t realize any one had posted.
Yes, it was bluetooth problems that caused me to want to update the firmware. The firmware was updated at my last visit to the audiologist and it added the ability to answer and hangup the phone by pressing the button on the HAs. That was a welcome addition but the update also introduced new problems causing fairly chronic bluetooth connection problems. The firmware update that this topic pertains to and that I did myself resolved most of those connection issues.
This pertains to the iPhone because to my knowledge Signia (or at least the profits that I’ve used) only work with Made for iPhone Bluetooth which I understand to be Apple’s proprietary low power bluetooth implementation. So these HAs don’t work with Android devices at all.
The reason I’m back on the forum and saw these replies to the original thread is I’m still having some BT reliability issues so looking for another firmware update and once again having problems with Connexx update manager keeping Connexx up to date. I see there’s another reply that deals with that so I’ll reply to that after this.
As a side note about the BT problems in case it’s of interest or someone isn’t aware of it, the Signia AX platform is the first that allows the user to talk through the hearing aids rather than directly into the iphone. So I think this is just a matter of Signia working the kinks out of a new technology. When it works it works well but it seems to drop the BT connection with one or the other HAs somewhat often so I’m hoping there’s another update that fixes that.
As that clip describes, it did update to the latest version after the initial install. Now however, I can’t get the update manager to run. When running it from the menu it seems to run for a few seconds and then ends without ever bringing up the download manager dialogue box or anything else. On my computer which is an iMac running Fusion for Windows emulation I don’t see the update manager in the systray. All that’s there is the icon for Connexx and right clicking on that doesn’t bring up anything like the update manager. So I’m kind of at a loss on how to get update manager to do it’s thing. Here is what I’m running which is the one update that’s been installed since I installed Connexx 9 in September I think.
Actually you should still see it, I still get the pop up window telling me I have the latest version, could probably be because the Mac running an Windows emulation, I guess when there’s a new update you’ll see it then?
I hope that’s the case that the update notification comes up when there’s a new version. I also have an odd permissions problem between the mac and virtual windows machine and have been thinking that might be causing it.
Maybe you guys will have to tell us because we don’t run emulation?? If I see an update and remember this Topic I will come back to check whether you are getting a notification of the update.
