Problem with Siri Voice Control

I was experimenting a bit with streaming music into my HA using first with Alexa Echo and then with Spotify. I got them both to work and was pleased with the sound. A day later I tried to connect my HA with myPhonak and they wouldn’t connect. They were both listed in the app but refused to connect after repeated attempts.

I removed them from Bluetooth in My Devices, rebooted the iPhone and then tried to pair them again with the phone. That worked. But, the myPhonak app still wouldn’t connect to the HA.

I deinstalled and reinstalled the app, deleted Spotify, removed the HA from the Alexa app and after a few attempts was able to connect to the app again. I won’t repeat what I was saying out loud about Apple and bluetooth during this process.

During these attempts to return everything back to the way it was before my streaming experiment, “Voice Control” kept popping up on the iPhone with no specific means to stop it except to hit the home button. I had no idea what this was because I had never seen it before. I eventually found out that Voice Control is the system that Siri uses to control volume, music selection, etc. when using headphones. It is not a separate app but an integral part of Siri.

I have found no way to remove Siri (you can’t) and I have tried countless numbers of suggestions found on the Web to solve this problem. I tried them all, mostly settings. While it hasn’t popped up in the last 24 hours it is still active because when I type in my passcode on the lock screen I hear the clicks in my HA as I type each number of the code. Of course I can turn off the clicks in the Settings but I want to solve this problem so it doesn’t rear its ugly head in the future.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

I’ve been told that any time you have a problem with myphonak you should uninstall and reinstall. I don’t know anything about siri except that Apple can be pretty controlling with what you can and can’t do with their phones

I really don’t understand how classic Bluetooth hearing aids connect into the IOS but I use MFI aids and have no issues. And bye the way I have Seri disabled on my iPhone and iPad.

If your aid that is configured to call up siri thinks you are tapping that would cause it. I had a lot of trouble until I changed the tap sensitivity to “Firm.” I have had coughs, sneezes, even taking bites while eating, trigger siri. Much better with firm sensitivity.

If you can get them connected in myphonak, you can even completely remove it by changing the tap action to “None.”

Thanks to all of you for comments and suggestions. I think I will just reset my iPhone back to factory defaults and reinstall myPhonak. That should eliminate the problem. I think my days of experimenting with streaming are over.

FINALLY! A real solution to keep from inadvertantly turning on siri by putting on sunglasses or adjusting my facemask. If you use phonak or KS 10 open the myphonak or easy line app. Easy Line Remote: Go to Touch Controls > Custom Actions > then choose: - Pause/Resume Streaming - Trigger Voice Assistant - Off/No action Tap sensitivity - Light/normal/firm tap. In my case it was the right hearing aid that was set to trigger the voice assistant (Siri) by tap. But check both your hearing aids. So pleased with Bill from Apple’s accessibility support team for this solution!

You can disable Siri. Look in Siri & Search setting and turn off all three.

Thanks, chary, so much for posting the solution. Finally I got rid of Siri firing up every time I put on my HAs.

As Kripke on Big Bang Theory said, siwi sucks.
