Problem with Kirkland size 10 batteries

I have been using the Kirkland size 10 batteries for some time in my Signia Nx Silk 3nx in the ear aids. I was wearing them intermitantly, opening up the battery doors when not in my ear. They seemed to last for several weeks. Now, I have new behind the ear Signia’s so I only wear the Silks if I am concerned about them falling off my head. However, with only an hour or two on the Kirklands, they go out. This has happened several times to me in the past few weeks. I got the Kirklands from Amazon as one of my usual sources. What gives?

The Amazon listing I see for these is sold by a 3rd party and fulfilled by Amazon. That’s usually fine, but sometimes not. The price I see isn’t exceptionally cheap either, frankly. Amazon should accept a return with no problem.

Hearing Tracker Shop on this site is a reliable and well-priced source for batteries. Shipping is free, and they’re drop-shipped from Oaktree Products which is a professional audiology supplier.

I’m just wondering what the problem is. I have used Kirklands for many years without this showing up. Did I just get a bad batch of these batteries? Could just laying around for some time cause them to go bad (say a year or two)? Maybe, there is a problem with the hearing aids that has developed so that they drain the batteries much sooner than normal.

I’m jumping right to bad batteries because I’m suspicious of batteries bought at Costco and resold on Amazon. I wouldn’t trust all such sellers to pay attention to proper storage of their stock. The batteries could have spent time in an unconditioned garage or storage unit, or a moving pod. Who knows.

I suggest getting a new order of batteries from a different source like Hearing Tracker Shop and see if the problem recurs. If it does, then blame would shift toward the aids themselves.
