I am a Canadian and so is my mother who needs a cochlear implant. The wait list is long. Are there private options in the US (or Canada)? How much would the cost be and the wait time?
I found this article about a family trying to get an implant for their child in Ontario. It has some links that might give you some ideas one where/who to contact for further advice.
Most health plans in US have an option for CI. A few pay for hearing aids. I think the no insurance, out of pocket cost might be in the $30000-50000 USD range. Look at the Vanderbilt University Cochlear Implant Center. They do a lot of them and im sure they can give you an estimate.

Is there an âout of networkâ option for Canadian health, where you could use a US provider and get even partial benefits?
