I have a significant hearing deficit in both ears, almost profound in one ear. I am trying to decide between the Philips HearLink 9050 and Jabra Enhance Pro 30 at Costco. Any help or experience you can share with me would be really appreciated.
Hi @Santa_Rosa_John, Difficult to give you any help without your audiogram. My experience is I did trial the Philips 9050 but returned them because I did not like the sound compared to my KS10’s, which to me is more open. I am going to trial the Jabra’s as the Costco audiologist told me quite a few of her customers had the same experience as me, and had switched to Jabra from Philips.
I have had the phonak luminity 90 and have transition to the Jabra pro 30 and like it.
With any of the new generation aids, to get benefit from the AI, you will need to use a closed coupling (power domes or custom ear molds with smaller vent).
All the more important with more severe losses. If the fitting is somewhat open it will be likely the feedback prevention will lead to under-amplification. You won’t hear as well, regardless of AI.

Hi Barry – My simplified audiogram is attached. Thanks for asking me for it, and thanks for your reply. --John
I don’t feel qualified to provide advice to you, but I would be glad to share my opinions and experience. I currently have both the 9050 (for 3 months) and the Jabra Pro 30 (for 3 days). I have mild to moderate loss in the left ear and moderate to severe loss in the right ear.
I think either would probably be suitable for your loss John. You could try both, although maybe in store first if possible. Then purchase the aids you prefer, although I don’t know the Costco policy on custom moulds should you return them. Would they be usable with the Jabra’s if say you returned the Philips?
Hi again, Barry –
Just a few words to tell you that, largely based on the Costco hearing aid fitter’s recommendation, I decided to go with the Philips 9050 aids. I purchased and have used the Philips product daily for the past month and could not be happier. My ability to use the HearLink 2 app on my cell phone to fine tune the high-medium-low frequency levels for all three program settings he set up for me is just wonderful.
The three programs set up individually for me are (1) General, (2) Speech in Noise. and (3) HiFi Music. I use General most of the time, Speech in Noise when I’m trying to converse with a dining partned in a noisy restaurant, and HiFi Music when I stream music from my cell phone. All three progams are really useful and make my hearing experiences a real pleasure.
I greatly appreciate your earlier responses and send you best wishes from Santa Rosa, California.

Excellent news John, pleased you found the Philips 9050 aids to your liking, and you are happy with the fitting.
Best wishes to you from Bonny Scotland.
Barry
I have the Jabras and have been v happy with them (several over some years). I use the online instructions and the paper manual to make various adjustments and for understanding. I recently tried to do the same for my friend’s Philips HAs and found them unfriendly and difficult to use. I would recommend ReSound/Jabra products over Philips.
