PineBuds Pro ANC & TWS Bluetooth earbuds with open-source firmware

“There are plenty of TWS earbuds on the market, but the PineBuds Pro earbuds are hackable thanks to an open-source firmware that could pave the way to interesting features, and potentially the development of open-source firmware transforming the earbuds into hearing aids.”

Geez. $70 bucks for the pair. If I didn’t have the cinderblock ears and need for perfect sealing aids I’d probably give these a try, LOL.

I’m no techie, but the basic specs of the buds looks decent. But “hackable” raises hackles. The article says these are mainly for “developers” at present. So who’s the target user here? I’m intrigued…

It’s an older meaning of “hack”. Back in the day it meant a clever solution to a problem, especially when making things work on really small devices. Target market? Uber geeks I think. I don’t know how well they work out of the box, but the attraction is in making them work better and adding new features.

Ok now I get it! I’m in that generation, too, LOL!
