Good evening. My first post here. I have been using the Resound in-the-ear hearing aids for about 2 years now with the associated Phone Clip +(PC). I put my PC aside for a couple of weeks while I was driving cross country and now it won’t pair with my HA. Has anyone had this issue? For the record:
PC + fully charged
bottom piece removed and Bluetooth connection is done
right button to pair but NO YELLOW light blinking for 20 seconds
new batteries in HAs.
Android Resound app installed and updated but not working
When I turn the PC + on, my media on phone or tablet no longer broadcasts out loud as if it was trying to send it to the HAs. If I then turn the PC + off, the sound resumes.
Wow, am I confused here. The HAs and PC + have been working wonderfully for two years and now, I only have just the hearing aids.
Could it be that your streamer (the Phone Clip) was paired up with another device (e.g., car’s bluetooth) or something that superseded the pairing with your PC and aids? My advice would be start all over: unpair the aids with ALL devices (hopefully your Phone Clip will show what it’s paired to already). Then re-pair the HAs with the PC as you did initially.
Odd things happen with 'puters and bluetooth devices. Could your Phone Clip need charging up - or is its charging base malfunctioning? Just start over from Ground Zero. Failing that, take the whole array in to your audiologist and have them set it up for you!
GOOD LUCK with that and let us know what worked for you.
When pairing your PC+ to your HAs (pressing the white hairpin button), you need to open your HA battery case first and then close it when the paring light becomes active. After closing the battery case, you should hear a melodic tone that indicate successful pairing.
When pairing to Bluetooth devices, sometimes there are issues with devices required input of numeric codes before it finally accepts PC+ default code of 0000 after several attempts. I had this issue with my ATT base phone. You should also open and close the HA battery case when paring to BT devices.
Bluejay, the phone clip was shut off in my briefcase for almost 2 weeks. The switch was shut off and I didn’t even charge it. The first time its use was attempted was yeaterday and it came off the charger.
Um bongo, the instructions say to open the battery doors (I did each time), hit the connect button once and then close the HA doors within the 20 second connect period. Not really sure what you mean by 3 slots it can connect to. Can you explain.
Mustang, some of my reply is answered in the original post and replies but here it is. I opened the batteries on the HAs, hit the connect button opposite the Bluetooth button but I never got the yellow light or the tone. Neither my phone nor tablet ask for the numeric code like my car does to pair with a BT device. My phone merely asks if I want to connect.
Thank you all for your replies. The PC+ has been on the charger all night with a nice steady green light. When I wear it, I don’t get the low battery indication until late in the day so I’m confident its battery is still viable. Finally, despite owning these for over 2 years and connecting to 2 different smart phones I thought maybe I had forgotten how to use it. So I downloaded the instructions from Resound and did the step-by-step to eliminate operator error.
The only good news is that these came fro the VA and their audio department is extraordinary and helpful. If I don’t figure this out today I’ll drop in there.
I’m going to unpair everything, redownload the app on my phone and start over from square one.
In Aventa or general pairing there are three available accessory ‘slots’, when you turn the aids on in startup/pairing mode and you press the connect button on the clip ((o))
the pairing location is determined by the number of presses of the button.
If the Bluetooth is twonked then you might need to repeat that side of the pairing as well.
Um bongo,
According to the instructions, the only mode is to press once to turn the pairing on. The issue I believe is in the PC+ because it never enters the pairing mode as evidenced by the lack of blinking yellow light. I have an appointment with the audiology department next week.
It is actually a blue light that shows successful connection to a non-phone transmitter. The yellow light shows when the battery is low. Not all BT transmitters work well with aids. For example, I haven’t been able to pair to the builtin BT in my older computer. In BT transmitters, I have found the Miccus and Indigo work easily with limited latency while the Keedox seems to have more problems but works in some situations. These are brands available at Amazon.
KenP,
My Phone clip has several lights. Alternating blue/red means fully charged while connected to the charger, blinking blue every 2 seconds is on, and yellow is on for 20 seconds during pairing mode with HAs. I have attempted this when the device is just removed from charger and fully chraged to no avail. I am now convinced it is the phone clip somehow. I will have it examined Wednesday when I meet with audio tech.
I’ll report the results since it is warranted by the VA.
Interesting that we have product with the same name and differing features. My PhoneClip+ came with the Costco equivalent of the Linx 1. The box for it also came with a user manual that details everything. This can also be downloaded at KS6 User Portal
Our clips definitely have different color responses.
Well, here is the latest (and oddest) development on my Resound Phone clip 2 issues. Today I drove down to the VA hospital in Pittsburgh, a 35 minute drive except this was rush hour , get to the Audiology department, and check in. I went in for my appointment and proceeded to turn on the Bluetooth phone clip after pulling the batteries out of my hearing aids. I’ve been pressed the sync button to show her how it would not eliminate, and the darn thing illuminated yellow just like it was supposed to do and then synced up with my hearing aids. I didn’t do anything differently nor have I done anything differently than in the past 2 years. I assured the technician that I knew how to do it and that I had been doing it for 2 years or more so what was the deal? She asked me all the usual questions, was it fully charged yes, where are the hearing aid batteries fresh yes. We just chalked it up to one of those experiences where you take your car into the mechanic and it’s making a weird noise and then it doesn’t. It has now been working fine for the last six or seven hours but if it does fail we’re going to send it in to have it evaluated.
