Phone calls disconnecting with Phonak Paradise P90-R

I have the Phonak P90-R. They work great for everything except phone calls. The call will be dropped anywhere between 10 seconds and 30 minutes (maybe longer). I have had a Samsung S8, iPhone 12 and now a Samsung S24+. There has been no change in the hearing aid performance; still drops calls.

I contacted Phonak and they point to the phone as the problem or the Bluetooth connection. They included instructions on how to pair the aids to the phone. (Roll eyes) Having used 3 different phones on 2 different platforms I know for sure it’s not the phone. The Bluetooth never drops a connection for any other use and will play music for hours. I can drive hundreds of miles and still get instructions from my Garmin GPS. I can use the phone with or without Wi-Fi calling without the hearing aids and no call is dropped.

I still have a set of hearing aids that require a separate device, which hangs around the neck, for Bluetooth. I’ve never had a call drop with them after using them for years with the Samsung S8.

My recommendation is to stay away from Phonak hearing aids. The next time I go to the VA I’m going to see about getting a different brand. If that’s not possible I’ll just continue to not use the Bluetooth feature with the ones I have.
