Hey @ryanb, any update on your experience with the Lumity? Have you trialled them in a complex environment (e.g. restaurant/Cafe etc.)? I’m very eager to hear your feedback.
Thanks in advance.

I’m waiting on any final judgments until I go back to my audiologist for further adjustments (see my original post). That said, last night I was at a wedding which included an outdoor ceremony, followed by a reception in a tent outdoors with a DJ playing music. I can’t do a true comparison because I don’t know how it would have sounded in my Marvels, but… I was generally really impressed. In fact, it wasn’t until I came home that I even thought “oh that’s weird, I really didn’t have any issues hearing anyone all night.” Overall I felt like I didn’t even have to work that hard to hear anyone, and my initial assumption was that it just wasn’t that loud. But my wife said it was in fact fairly loud.
So initial voice-in-loud environment review is fairly positive. I think there are definitely more challenging locations (indoors at a crowded bar, for example). I assume that because it was a) outdoors and b) it wasn’t huge, that made it easier than a 200 person indoor wedding would have been. So I still want to try it out in other more challenging environments.
I will note that battery life continues to be a concern. When I was getting ready for the wedding I topped off the aids with 15-20 minutes in the charger. Not sure they would have lasted otherwise.
Thank you for your detailed review, Ryan! I, also, have the Phonak Marvel (90R) and am looking at the Lumity. I am currently testing a loaner pair of Oticons just to rule out other options, but I am unhappy with them. I am so glad I saw your review! It only confirmed what I suspected–that the Lumity will be amazing. Now I’m left with deciding whether to go for the Lumity Life waterproof aid. I’ll have to dig into that some more.
Thanks again for your review. If you have further insights to share, I would love to hear them!
I would love to hear your insights about the Lumity after you try them out. I currently wear the Phonak Marvel 90, and am looking at ordering the Lumity.
I have a Bluetooth question about Lumity. I know the Lumity hearing aids connect directly to mobile phones. My question is: do you need an extra phone clip or streamer to use Lumity with your laptop (Teams Meetings) or smart TV or can you just directly connect the hearing aids directly to any bluetooth device. My streaming use cases for these hearing aids would be: iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro (home use), Windows laptop (work), Smart TV. I know you are limited to 2 simultaneous connections. Just wondering if they all directly connect. I’m thinking a TV streamer might make sense if you have another person in the room that wants to listen to the TV via the speakers while you stream to the hearing aids.
Let me know. Thx.

There’s been many threads about this.
There’s quite often a delay with direct Bluetooth to a TV so buying a TV Connector is good as it doesn’t use Bluetooth.
Some people have luck with laptops and some people can’t connect their Phonak’s to the laptop.
I use a telecoil neckloop to avoid this issue.
Have a search on older threads.
Side Note - there is no Phone Clip for Phonak’s anymore.
I haven’t tried a laptop yet. But it connects just fine to my iPad, my iPhone, and my Facebook Portal device for video calls.
I wonder why they slipped away from the Paradise platform? I hope that Sonova continues to support it.
DaveL
Unfortunately when Paradise gets too old, they’ll stop supporting it.
The myPhonak App doesn’t do too much for the Marvels anymore either.
Thanks for your willingness to post your experience with Lumity. I’m looking forward to hearing about it since I’m currently checking out new hearing aids and haven’t yet heard much about this new model from actual hearing aid wearers.
I’m being fitted on Friday for the Life version of these.
My audiologist has said that these use a new 4-pin receiver and aren’t compatible with Paradise receivers.
I’m wondering what the extra wire will be used for in the future: a receiver mic possibly?
I wonder if the new 4-pin receiver is somehow related to using the hearing aids with Activent receivers.
Jordan
My current Audeo Life Paradise HAs are three pin and support ActiveVent receivers. It could still be related though.
It does show that something else is new here apart from the Autosense update to 5.0 and associated speech recognition benefits.
At the Lumity launch event I was told it takes the same receiver as Marvel and Paradise. I’m not sure about this 4-pin business.
I was afraid somebody would say that!
I’ve had my doubts about this audiologist before and if this information turns out to be wrong too then my confidence in him will be even more eroded.
I’ll report back…
My activevent receivers in my p90s have 3 wires. They must have come up with another reason for the fourth wire. Heart beat? Dunno.

The Audeo Fit has extra pins. Has the lumity been released in the fit? Perhaps he was confused.
Phonak actually didn’t send new receivers with my Lumity HAs, so my audiologist just used my old ones from my Marvels. The new receivers arrive next week. So I can confirm the old receivers work just fine.
I have a pair of Lumity aids in front of me and I can confirm they take the standard 3-pin receiver. I wouldn’t give up on your aud over that mistake - there are so many devices/manufacturers/new models constantly changing and it’s hard to keep abreast of the smaller details.
Amongst other things he once told me that Phonak don’t really recommend Real Ear Measurements…
Luckily I’m a DIYer and only need him for the hardware.
