Phonak unveils Lumity hearing aid platform

You’ll prolly need to kill the LEs every time you switch. But I don’t see why you’d need to kill the classic connections.

Kill what? I have no idea what you mean.

My R-Blue connects when I turn my hearing aids on.

My LE-R and LE-L only connects when on the App but when I close App, the connection doesn’t stay connected.

Forget the LE bt pairings. They seem to be locked in the app and prevent pairing the other aids when you want to swap.

I’ve got on my old iPhone, 2 x R Connections, 1 x R-Blue and 1 x R-Black for my spare HAs.

I then have only my blue Aids paired to my App.

My black Aids work very well even tho my blue Aids are connected to App.

Haven’t paired black Aids yet as just got new iPhone. (That’s why picture above, only shows blue Aids paired.)

Yes it’s true that only 1 x pair of Aids work with the App.

I’m saying if you wanted to switch to controlling the other set of aids (black?) in the app, you need not kill the blue classic pairing, just the LE pairings. I don’t know if your black aids work with the app or not, just saying if they were both compatible, you don’t need to kill them all to switch. Of course if you don’t care about the app, just the two classic pairings, one for each bt master, would be needed.

Since I’ve previously only had Marvels that couldn’t support multiple Bluetooth connections, how does that work? If I pair three devices with my Lumity HAs, two can be active at the same time, but how do I switch between the third one? Just select “connect” from the Bluetooth menu of the paired device?

And if I have 8 Bluetooth connections, what happens when I tried to add a ninth?

The third one can connect when one of the first two drop. When I want to switch I usually tell my iPad to disconnect in the bt part of the settings app. Then a Mac or other device can grab a connection.

I haven’t gotten to the ninth pairing problem. I’d expect a nearly, maybe the first, to drop off. But I’d hope for the one that hasn’t connected in the longest time to be the one dropped.

OK WOW!!! This is really a deal-maker for me! I would not only like to add more programs to my current lineup (Default, Speech in LOUD Noise, Comfort in Echo and Acoustic Phone) but to just jump right to the program I need is another real PLUS! It is very tedious going through all those programs, say, when I’m streaming TV and hubs asks a question (I’ve got all ambient sound OFF). I always GROAN audibly and ask, “Are you SURE?” before taking my aids out of streaming to hear him - poor guy. :pensive:

Interesting that only our audis can tinker with the AutoSense tho! Thanks for all the great input here.

LOL your entire lineup (minus Calm situation) is for me NOW. I will pick these aids up on Tuesday (thanks to a last-minute cancellation so my audi can fit me in). I will really need to get crackin’ on the phone app to get the most out of these new Lumity Life aids.

OK! That sounds straightforward and do-able! Thanks EVER so much for the info here.

Ah, so one has to drop before a third can join. I guess I was thinking that adding a third one would cause one of the other two to drop, but I guess what you describe makes more sense because it gives you control of which one drops off.

Oh right!

I was just showing BlueJay, the connections as she’s never used the App. I just screenshot it to show her.

I don’t really use the App tho. I wasn’t really taking about using the App with different Aids in my original post to BlueJay.

The advertisement video for the Lumity Waterproof shows a person jumping into a pool but they don’t recommend jumping into a pool as they are only waterproof to 50 cm.

Been many complaints already!

Issues in assisted living are changing waxguards, domes, and hearing aids falling out and being squashed and broken. That’s the experience we had.

My audiologist’s office just called me to book an appointment to try out the new Phonak Lumity hearing aids. I’m currently wearing Resound Quattro 9’s so I’m very much looking forward to the comparison. I will post my observations after the fitting. I’m a very long term (and fussy) hearing aid user. For me, the key (and most important) feature that I’m looking for is improved speech in noise. Most top model hearing aids do everything else well. Better speech in noise is the one thing that we all hope for when new models are announced. Second for me is rock solid bluetooth connectivity for streaming and talking on my mobile phone.

@ryanb : Have you tried your new Lumity Hearing Aids in a very noisy place like a restaurant? I’m patiently waiting to hear how the new Speech in Noise enhancements perform.

Thanks for posting your feedback.

The Lumity will give you connectivity access to the Roger On, which is nice.

Love my Roger on. Used it last night at a high top table in a restaurant/bar pub that was having a contest while I’m having a conversation with a buddy.

@Neville

Does the Lumity offer a different way of connecting the Roger On compared to the Paradise or Marvel?

Thought it worked on the same system?

Nope, just the same.
