I have just bought a pair of Phonak P90 aids and a TV connector, My TV is somewhat elderly so I used the (supplied) plug to power it from the mains. That worked: aids responded to confirm connection. Next I used the old-style jack plug connector from device to TV audio output socket. All according to instruction booklet. Nothing doing. Would a scart lead help ?
What color is the light on the back of the connector when the TV is on?
If it’s white, the unit isn’t getting audeo, if it’s green, try a “long press” on your aids to see if they activate. I had similar issues with my M90s, and that’s what worked, until I had a remote session with an audiologist. She had to consult Phonak to find the proper setting to enable automatic activation of the program.
Green light is on - I even get the merry tune in the aids if I switch the power on and off. I don’t really understand what you mean by a long press. Whereabouts on the aids ?
You may need to go to the TV setup options for audio and make sure that the external speaker/headphone jack will be used. Some TVs have the option to turn on or off the internal and external audio.
Another possibility is the sound settings in the TV need to be changed to PCM.
I get to it on our Samsung by going to menu, sound, digital audio out then PCM.
Just on the button on the aids. But if it’s “playing the tune” when you turn it on and off, have you tried adjusting the volume on the adapter? Since the light is green, that’s supposed to mean the tv adapter is receiving sound. You may need to have your audiologist change a setting. I had issues with it until the audi worked whatever magic she did.
Did you buy the TV connector from the audiologist you bought the aids from? If not the aids might not be set up for a TV connector. That has to be entered in the Phonak Target software.
Just a thought - have the aids been paired with the TV connector? Put the aids in pairing mode (turn off and on if battery ones, not quite sure for rechargeable), then press the pairing button on the back of the TV connector. After 10 seconds or so you might hear a jingle through the aids, and they are then paired. To see the tv program depends how the aids have been set up. If you use the app you can open it and see the tv program when the tv connector is on. If not, cycle through your programs by holding down one of your hearing aid buttons for 2 seconds or so, then do it again to move to the n2ext program. When the tv connector is on, there will be an extra programme at the end which connects you to the tv connector…good luck…
