Phonak tv adaptor

I have a tv adaptor out of warranty that has been working on and off the last few months and now seems to work only seldomly and for a few mintues. I called Phonak support and they were not able to help. The audi wasn’t able to help. How long do they generally last? I plug it in and it doesn’t light up. I press and hold the on button and it goes on temporarly and then only lasts a few mintues. I have chedked the cables and they seem ok. Same with outlets. If I get new ones does anyone know a good source for used?

I would look on Ebay for a used one. There are quite a few down on the page.

I think in general they’re pretty reliable, but alas stuff does break. I’d look on EBay for a used one. Just check sellers ratings.I’ve had mine for 5 years with no issues.

V1 or V2? Top buttons or none? I have the V2.
I kind of wonder if I find it getting warm sometimes and it seems to cut out sometimes so I keep the volume down on the TVC (TV Connector). More like in the middle. Then adjust the aids as needed.
But I’m not certain of this correlation.

Will try keeping the volume down. I live in an apartment building so maybe someone has a new device that is interfering. The tv connector has top buttons. The green light goes on sometimes and then cuts off. It used to work fine until about 6 weeks ago.

Interference is interesting. Or reception. I wonder where the antenna is on this thing. The green light should be on all the time. If it goes white then it has lost connection. I experience these cut outs on a plane. Never at home. So I wonder if the different positions allow heat somewhere. If there’s no screen on the seat back then I use my phone. I plug in the audio to the phone (yes it still has a headphone jack). The power comes from the seat power. I’ll be on a plane with a seat back screen in a couple days and I’ll see if it has similar behavior plugging audio into the seat audio output. But interference or reception might be something to experiment with.

Edit: The antenna might be on the front edge. So are you facing the front of the TVC when using it? I will test that out myself eventually.

If you haven’t already I would try a different USB Cable … they sometime get warn or corroded.

Yes- change both the USB cable and power supply. With some cables/devices the USB plug won’t snap durably into its hole. If there is no light at all this is not a problem of the audio cable. I have had my Phonak TV streamer for two years now, permanently on, but as some others here say- all these electronics may die one day.
I find the microwave oven interferes with reception, but I doubt your neighbors are to blame.

Yes, Microwave crushes BT.
I doubt that the TV speaker volume will have any effect on the TV adapter.
Go into the TV menu and see, but usually it riding the tv volume does not affect the output, Toslink or RCA output which is a constant.

A component could be failing inside the unit.
Or a component in the USB power supply.
I basically only use USB HUBS so not a dedicated AC powered supply for each device. My hubs last forever.

Just got the ROLLS AGC unit, and excited to try it soon. To level the range of TV Audio. So will switch from Toslink to the RCA output.

Have you swapped cables and USB power sources? These adapters use little power and almost any usb power source should work. I’d make sure that it isn’t the cable or the usb wall wart before I looked at messing with the adapter itself. Cables and connectors are the most suspect at first in my opinion.

Another thing to try is to change to a different tv or to your computer

I don’t actually use it for the tv. I use it for radio and cd player and move it around quite a bit. I just tried changing the cable and it works very well now.
It does not connect with my older tv. Do you know what connector or cable I could by so that I can plug it into my tv?

Thanks… I just swapped a different cable and it works well. I move it around between cd player at radio. I don’t use it for tv since it does not connect to any outlet on tv. I would like to buy a cable or connector so I can also use it on tv. Do you know wha the name of the connector cable would be so I can buy it.?

How old is the TV? Hard to imagine that the TV does not have some Audio out!

Yes, full make and model would help answer the question.
There are two ways to receive audio to the TVC. 1. optical, 2. 3.5mm (1/8") jacks.
Make and model would help us find your audio output options.

It is a Vizio, 2017 model. It has the outputs but my cord does not fit into it so I need some type of adapter.

Do you have the manual for it? That would have the model number.
I leave the cords connected to the tv. When home I connect the TVC. When I travel, I take the TVC and take another set of cords and leave the cords connected to the home tv behind.

The model number is D32hn-E4. I will try leaving the cords in and just moving the TVC around. It really make a difference to hear sound so clearly and I felt lost without it for a few weeks.

The optical option which is quite common (and use of which usually doesn’t also silence the main tv speakers) is TOSLINK. The tv connector end is the same place an analog audio cable goes. The tv end is squarish looking. Your tv’s port might look like the “optical digital audio out” port in the picture linked. If you don’t mind the tv’s speakers being muted, there may also be a 3.5 mm jack on there somewhere too.

I kinda dislike the analog version because if the program audio level is quiet enough for long enough (40 sec or something like that) then the connector disconnects. And then it takes a second or two to reconnect when audio is louder again and I miss that part. I bought a usb attached optical audio port for my computer. Works well. I have a usb hub that has power switches for ea port and that lets me turn off the connector when I don’t want it grabbing my aids.

Hope all this helps

This has an optical port. You’ll want to be sure that pcm is what your optical port puts out. Not all tv connectors can do Dolby, some can. It depends on which model you have.
