I received my Phonak Spheres yesterday. I have been trying to connect them to my iPhone SE 3rd generation. I went through the Bluetooth pairing process and the iPhone settings show that both HAs are connected. But when I make a phone call the “Audio” button on my phone app shows only “Speaker” as an option. When I try to stream from Spotify the option to stream to my HAs does not appear. What am I doing wrong?
The Sphere’s have two types of Bluetooth Connections and each has a separate process. If you did it properly, you will see the following in the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone:
- R-Phonak hearing aid (this is how the iPhone connects audio via Bluetooth Classic).
- LE_L-Phonak hearing aid (Left side Bluetooth LE connection to the myPhonak app)
- LE_R-Phonak hearing aid (Right side Bluetooth LE connection to the myPhonak app)
If you are missing the first one, you missed something during the install. That is the connection for the audio.

OK. Now I’ve got it (at least for now). After I pair both HAs and see all three of those items in Settings I have to actually select “R-Phonak hearing aid”. Once I did that I was able to stream both phone calls and Spotify audio. Thanks, Jordan!
Honestly I think this method of BT seperation is fantastic. I am totally blind which means my phone speaks to me. However, for various reasons, I don’t want my phone streaming through my hearing aids. So being able to connect them for adjustments and status checks but without streaming is really useful to me.
