Phonak Sphere aids

I have been using Phonak Sphere for a couple of months now with various programmes on the phone. Today I popped into my local dry cleaners who also does alterations etc. It is a small shop but when i was sorting out the fitting, I couldn’t hear what the person was saying and I’m not sure what I could do re: background/clarity. Interestingly the person doing the measurements also wears hearing aid which seem to be working well. My phone had adjusted to spheric speech in loud noise, but really made no difference at all. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong with the technology?

I don;t think you are doing anything wrong, the spheres should be able to manage this situation automatically. I know some people prefer to do the switch to spheric mode manually but I don’t think switching to spheric mode should stop you from hearing if the fitting was done right.

When I hear people struggling with their performance of their HAs in the way you have described (based on this situation and your other posts), I tend to blame the programming and the setup, not. the aids. I think you mentioned you were going to see some specialists (I think you call them consultants in the UK: ENT, bruxism expert, audiologist). Were they able to help and would you mind sharing if they helped and how? (I ask this so that the folks here don’t repeat or contradict the advice you have already gotten). I’m not trying to be nosy, just trying to understand some of the facts that could be stopping you from hearing properly with the aids.

Open fitting? Most common problem. The noise you are trying to eliminate leaks in over powering the work your aids are doing.
