Age old problem, speech in noise. bit of a moan to follow …
Mild, edging to severe but at 60 years not that bad that should accept that’s it.
As usual in restaurant the other night, quite noisy but not terrible, I could hear the people behind me better than those in front at my table, actually gave up joining in the conversation.
New’ish Lumity Life L90’s. set to narrow & fiddling with the usual settings. Nothing really made a worth while difference.
My main query is why does it not switch off the rear mic’s completely on full narrow etc.(perhaps it does & front ones are so good still amplifies) if I’m at a table I don’t want ANYTHING from behind, don’t care if waiter creeps up on me, not going to be hit by a car or pounced on my a Lion.
Over the years increasingly frustrated, Many years ago changed from NHS to phonak audeo’s & sooner prompted thinking could be better, so £3k premature to these new’ish lumity with the promise (sort of) 10%+ better in noisy environments. To be honest I am pretty sure barely any better than my 7 year old NHS (digital but not great) that had 2 button presses, SiN 1 & 2 & not sure any better than all the tuning in the world I now try.
I bought RogerOnIn a year ago, they were a big improvement, quite harsh & tiring over extended periods but could hear to quite a good degree. However & I have only myself to blame, left them at an Xmas party so lost forever (or whoever cleared the table thinking they have hit the jackpot, once then know what they are worth) Not going to claim on insurance for my own stupidity but cannot justify buying again, don’t use that much really, hence forgetting as just not instinct to remember.
Anyway, just wondered if any good advise.
I am looking to test my Samsung Phone SGS23Ultra with the Accessibility/Ambient Noise boost. Testing at home implies could be really good but hard to tell until really in that situation. Not any adjustment that I can see but the mic is very sensitive but hoping I can turn down the HA’s mic so most comes from the phone.
Has anyone experienced ear buds or any other device.
My Samsung Buds pro (quite old now) had an ambient setting, quite good but no where enough amp for this purpose but feel these companies seem to be looking to do.
Just seems crazy that with all this tech & ability a simple device cannot be developed.
I know a lot of R&D for the main hearing aid co. but do seem to be milking the £’s for these extras, especially the Go. Sure the tech was already there so why charge £2k assuming you have already spent £3k on the HA’s themselves, being OEM surely wish make achieviable financially for them to get an improvement that really the HA’s ought to be able nowaday.
bit of a rant but spend £10 in the last 5 years & maybe 10% better than my free NHS from 8 years ago.
