I’ve had my sound recovery increased on my Naidas. I’m really liking the different in sound and its stopped a lot of my feedback problems which I’ve put up for, for over a year.
But something I’ve noticed, I don’t no if its just me, but my start up tune has changed in sound and I hate it. It makes me think every time I turn my Naidas on that my hearing aid is broken. Would it change the start up tune?
Would it be something that your brain has to get used to? I’ve worn my Naidas with the old sound recovery setting for over a year.
Adjusting the Sound Recovery setting would have nothing to do with the startup melody - your Audi must have altered that by mistake. I’m not sure why adjusting the Sound Recovery would have much effect if any on the feedback issue either…but maybe. Sounds like your Audi changed more that just the Sound Recovery setting.
I don’t get on with it, without sound recovery but thinking about having the start up tune turned off and the delayed start up, put longer as I can’t get them in my ears before they turn on.
Hello Naida UP! Im new here. I have a Naida S IX UP. Sounds to me the change of the start up melody was because the sound recovery adjustment makes the start up melody sound different to you. Im betting that if you had the sound recovery set back to where it was previously, the start up melody will be what it sounded like before.
Just my opinion.
Thanks. I just got it 2 weeks ago and so far I like how it sounds, but right now I`m have having technical problems. It keeps shutting down and it kills the battery in a day or less. I think it has something to do with the gain. I have an appointment with my audi today.
I’m going to, when I see Audi in a weeks time. Bluh!
I was struggling to hear before but think the problem is my ear molds not giving me the right amount of gain. My ear molds are not continuously feed backing but I think they are small enough to reduce my gain. Being profoundly deaf, I can notice even a 1db drop as I can’t hear anything.
I have had a Naida S V SP for a few months now and my startup tune has always sounded strange. I just assumed it was becasue of my severe flat loss, but after reading your posts I am beginning to wonder if it is the settings on my hearing aid. If I understand this correctly if my startup tune sounds odd I should have my programing checked??
I also read your posts awhile back about ear molds although I have only had a hearing aid for 3 months and my loss is different than yours I have a skeleton mold and have gotten along very well with it.
You could have the programming checked. I’m not 100% but mine has def changed for the worse. I hate the start up tune away so might ask for it to be turned off. That’s the one thing I hate about digitalis.
Glad you like your skeleton molds, I’ve never had them as my loss is too profound to get them.
Oh I wonder why you’ve had all the problems. I’ve never had any trouble like that and my are severely maxed out.
I know when the old Naidas came out, they had loads of issues like you’ve described but I thought they had sorted all of them out.bpeople said they had to use Power One batteries to stop the aids shutting down. Hope you get them sorted.
I think my next appt will be the last one. I hate my hearing. I’ve had my naida for over a year and still visiting my Audi for minor changes.
Sound Recovery is really a fantastic feature. I couldn’t handle the sound of Phonaks, but I wish I could for that feature alone. I’d go walking in the park and I could hear the birds chirping like never before. They are really on to something there.
ZoomControl is also a great feature. Makes hearing things behind you or off to the side much much easier.
I just wish the sound wasn’t so mechanical/harsh, but everyone hears differently so that’s probably a big part of it.
Ha! This will probably sound crazy, but my audi found that it was the brand of battery that I was using, was not making good contact in the battery box, therefore causing the aid to shut down. I was using Energizer 675 zinc air batteries. And she showed me that they were slightly thinnner than the batteries that they have. (Sonus brand ?)
My Naida S IX is only 2 weeks old and I thought I spent 3 thousand dollars for a piece of junk. It`s working great now though.
A lot of people have had problems with the Energizer brand of HA batteries and they seem to have problems with all the sizes. We had #13’s that had the same problem.
If I can hear birds (from a birds app on my iPhone) better in my better ear and worse in my bad ear. Does that tell me the sound recovery is fine? My brain is starting to get used to it now and is sounding all right.
It probably telling you that; but, the bird sounds on the iPhone app mighty be compressed already so only real bird sounds will prove that the sound recovery feature (that uses compression) is working properly. It seems like there is a problem with one aid or the loss on the worse ear cannot be compensated for.
Phonak has a very good video on this feature here: Hearing Aids and Solutions | Phonak
Even though it is targeted at children’s hearing loss it describes how it is accomplished very well. Hope this helps!
