Phonak Retention Lock - 4 possible positions?

I find these retention locks to be useful in keeping my domes from working their way out of my ears. I’ve worn the HA/Domes without them as well and the receiver wire invariably becomes “loose” along my ears. Here’s the thing.

The retention locks can be positioned four ways on the receiver - well practically speaking 2 ways. Either at 90 degrees to the receiver wire line, or, in line with the receiver wire (straight down).

In the past I’ve attached them pointing straight down. When I put them into my ear the “tail” then curls back along the bottom of my ear. However, I bought a new pair of receivers recently that came with the retention locks attached at 90 degrees “forward” facing. I thought this odd but used them that way to see what would happen. Interestingly they hold the domes in more firmly.

The domes are much harder to insert correctly, but once in, with the “tail” very curled around into the bottom of my ears, they hold in place all day long very nicely.

Curious what others do?

(If my description is unclear I could try to post a pic - ask if needed.)

I had the same question util I saw the following Video

Well will you look at that! Someone else from Dr Cliff’s offices.

Thanks - that explains how to attach them perfectly.

I recently accidentally put mine on 90 degrees wrong. They worked ok, probably better than normal, but after a few days started causing pain because the base of the tail was pressing on my ear so hard. It took a few weeks to work out what was wrong.
