That’s pretty much how mine behave. Won’t reconnect to the Mac unless I switch off & on.

I have the same problem you describe. My iphone and iPad reconnect seamlessly but my Mac (2019) does not. If I walk out of range the BT disconnects and I have to reset the HAs to reconnect or wait a random (up to 15 minutes) amount of time when the might reconnect on their own.
