If my Left Phonak 312 has Bluetooth connection to my phone, every time I touch or use my phone it mutes the outside sounds until I stop typing or navigating on phone. I would expect it to do what it is doing if I had phone call or streaming music but not when I am just checking emails or trying to text?
My Right Phonak 312 does not do this. It works perfectly fine. The aids are 4 months old.
Thanks for the assistance. I have seen that but here is my problem.
This issue is only with the Left HA and only one when it is connected to Bluetooth. So why does the Right HA when connected to Bluetooth not have the brief annoying mute issue? It is same phone.
Even if I wanted to turn off Notifications, it seems very complex to do? I have Samsung S20 but there are a number of notifications functions and features. It seems like it is worse of two evils even if I could some how figure out how to turn all notifications off?
In short my R HA is working perfectly and if LH is on while R HA is connected to Bluetooth, I don’t see this issue. I wonder if it is related to firmware within the aid?
As stated earlier there are a number of things that could fall under the generic term Notifications? And while yes I could theoretically try to go through them all and turned them all off, it would NOT be a solution. I need my notifications like emails, text etc. maybe not Amber alerts, ebay etc. I did see a Do Not Disturb option and turned it off and it made no difference.
I guess where I was going is that given that the R HA works fine with the same phone and phone settings, there must be something with the L HA and bluetooth? I was hoping it was obvious and someone may have seen.
I didn’t realize that. This is strange. Is normal streaming music or so from this phone good hearable in both HA?
Btw. you can still keep your preferred notifications if you don’t mind hearing them in your aid(s). You mentioned that simple touch to the phone activates the Bluetooth connection. Thats why you may turn off keyboard sounds etc. are off.
Is normal streaming music or so from this phone good hearable in both HA? Yes, although for now I hadn’t used for a lot of streaming, when it does, it does so on it’s on which is kind of slick, like being in a vehicle by myself. Both HA work fine with incoming audio
Btw. you can still keep your preferred notifications if you don’t mind hearing them in your aid(s). I actually like the hearing the beeps. It lets me know if I get a work email or work chat when I may be away from the computer or phone.
You mentioned that simple touch to the phone activates the Bluetooth connection. Thats why you may turn off keyboard sounds etc. are off No, I was saying that when / if the L HA was connected to the Bluetooth and I did anything with the phone, it would MUTE the HA for a few seconds. This ONLY with the L HA as the R HA does not do this when it connected to Bluetooth. So if anything somehow a touch or scroll or any type of activity on my Phone when connected via bluetooth to the L HA mutes the HA for a brief 2-3 seconds. It gets annoying after a while. Here is a case in point. I am in Video work meeting with L HA connected to Bluetooth and all is working fine. Let’s say I pick up the phone to send a text; when I start touching the phone the HA will briefly Mute so I can’t hear what was being said for a few seconds. If pressed my workaround is to just stay off the phone when using L HA for Bluetooth or Turn ON Do NO Disturb which may be less likely to try to use.
Just so you know, I tried to call Phonak about it, but there support is equally annoying, there answer for every question basically is go see your Hearing Care Professional. They don’t even call them Audiologists. Worst in my case, if I listened to my Audiologist, I would even have the Phonaks. In the big picture I like what I have, I just got to keep scratching and clawing for bits and pieces of information to have better experience with my new aids.
I still think there is an explanation for the muting: The phone sends a sound for a split second, if keyboard sounds are activated. This activates the audio connection via bluetooth for 2-3 seconds. Even if there is no following sound to transmit (=silence or muted mics).
Strange is that it only happens for one HA. No idea for what reason.
And keyboards sounds are confirmed off. I have no need for that anyway. To be clear keyboard sounds were always off and bluetooth audio connection is already enabled, but connected to my my laptop or phone when issue occurs. I follow your thought process but if I am on video call meeting bluetooth is on laptop, so even tapping a keyboard should not Mute a external Bluetooth connection. But this issue occurs just tapping / touching the touch screen.
I can get around this problem by connecting my bluetooth to the R HA. I was hoping someone had seen, but apparently now. Another Call to Phonak and they said I need to unpair the opposite HA on the phone. I agree that prolly should be done, but it does not explain why it works with R HA and not the L HA.
I am beginning to believe it is related to Samsung’s Smart Things?
There is notification to allow User (Me) to send Output to the Connected HA ( which for me right now is L HA) or the the Phone. I am experimenting with sending the Smart Things output to the Phone to see what happens.
