Phonak notifications from iPhone.

I want all my notifications to come through my iPhone 12pro and not my hearing aids. Can this be done? And how?

As a recent Phonak adopter this is also something I want. Unfortunately based on discussions with an audiologist friend and a bunch of online research it seems that the classic bluetooth that phonak uses (and apple’s choices on their end) makes it all or nothing. So either no audio through hearing aids or 100% of audio through hearing aids, including notifications. This is especially annoying as this is true even when the phone is silenced. I’ve even had some issues with my ringtone sneaking through with my phone on do not disturb. I spent a while trying to set up automations or shortcuts on my iPhone to disconnect from my aids (the R-Phonak responsible for the streaming) while at work for example. But no luck yet. I’m getting very close to just turning off my ringtone permanently. I’m sick of my ringtone blasting through my aids in the middle of teaching or playing pickleball… Coming from widex which uses MFI connectivity this has been probably my biggest complaint (relatedly the inability to separately choose whether media streaming and phone streaming comes through my aids or the phone by default).

I would love to be proven wrong and/or hear other people’s strategies for managing this, but afraid I don’t have anything specific to suggest.

Well most people are not experiencing these issues with iPhone, as I’m sure the forum would be flooded with complaints, but one thing is notifications can only be set up on/from a paired device, in your case iPhone (LoonE nothing to do with “classic” Bluetooth,it’s a phone thing)
In android which I use it’s easy enough to turn off or on notifications, including for each app you want notification from, plus whether I have these notifications for calls or media, so you should be able to have “silent notifications” on your phone and not get that notification through the aids which I agree would be very annoying.

Yeah I mean I HOPE I’m missing something and someone who uses Phonaks and iPhone can chime in with the solution. I guess I should have said it’s the way iPhone handles the classic Bluetooth connection not that it is specifically a classic Bluetooth thing. You can turn off notifications completely and for specific apps (say for texts or phone calls), but I have not found a way to keep notifications on but route them through the phone speakers if a Bluetooth audio device (like Phonak aids) is connected. And the issue with notifications still playing through an audio device even with the phone on “silent” seems to be a pretty popular source of Reddit posts trying to find workarounds. Being able to handle and route audio differently by source was easy to do with an MFI connection, but after several months of trying lots of solutions I have yet to satisfactorily address various notification and audio routing issues with my new setup.
