Phonak Nathos Auto M hearing loop mode

I have these Phonak HAs as well and the T-Loop function doesn’t appear to have been programmed, Seems strange to omit for such a universally utilised function. Is there any reason an audiologist wouldn’t just automatically activate this feature in HAs capable of it?

@markc55555

NHS are a bit useless when it’s comes to actually activating useful programs.

You’ll have to ask for an appointment and get it activated.

Look up Speech in Loud Noise and Speech in 360 (used to be called ZoomControl), both very useful programs to use.

Yes a bit useless about sums them up. Makes you wonder if they even know about these features!

I found some useful information on here about “streaming” for TV listening. Looks like I need a Compilot II and TV Link to use with my Nathos Auto M’s so I’ll get them make sure that capability is enabled as well.

@markc55555

The ComPilot II or ComPilot Air II works automatically and also work automatically with the TV Link II no need to get it activated.

If you want to use the Air or ComPilot as a remote or need adjustments within the ComPilot programs, then you’ll need to go back.

If you buy a ComPilot and TV Link II from eBay, you’ll have to get the ComPilot reset to factory settings, which can be done at the hospital.

This is the ComPilot Air II.

Picked up a Phonak TV Link II (includes a Compilot II) and RemoteMic from ebay. Also picked up a Roger Pen and Roger X reciever.

I can hear the test sound through my HA’s but no steaming connections. Tried the TV Link, RemoteMic, phone, iPod via wire phono lead and Roger Pen via the Roger X none of them stream to the HA’s.
The TV Link, RemoteMic and phone all pair successfully with the Compilot II.

Just returned from a repair apppointment with the NHS Audiologist who switched on T-Loop and Roger steaming but couldn’t find a way to activate the HA’s to connect with the Compilot?

Next stop is the speciaist NHS Audiology department at the Royal Surrey Hospital (in Guildford).

Is there anything I can say/suggest to help them configure these HA’s to “talk” to the Compilot?

Thanks

Mark

Some of the older HAs need to be cycled through the programs with the button to enable the TV link, I think. Someone else just went through that.

As it’s a second hand ComPilot, you’ll need to have it factory reset to get rid of the old owners linking.

Or if the audiologist can’t figure out how to factory reset, then ask for it to be linked to your Aids. I’ll be very surprised if the audiologist can’t do either.

@markc55555

Download the Roger Upgrader Software to make sure your Pen is up to date.

You won’t be able to update the receiver as you’ll need an Inspiro or Touchscreen to do that.

Hi Zebras, can’t the OP do this in Target without Noah link using a usb cable?
It’s along time back and I’m not sure but when I got my compilot from the US I think I had the same problem.

@michael1

Yes that can be done via the software without connecting the Aids.

The audiologist had good click around in the Target software but couldn’t work out how to link the Compilot to the HA’s. I was watching intently and in fairness there were now menu options that mentioned Compilot! She didn’t even attempt to reset it…
She did switch on T-Loop and enabled Roger Direct but of course with the setup I currently have the Roger Pen connects to the Compilot (via the Roger X) so you still need the Compilot connected to the HA’s…

Its crazy that owner/user can’t perform a factory reset on the Compilot but there we are :roll_eyes:.

Hopefully the “Hearware@RSCH” specialist at the Royal Surrey will be able to help.

@markc55555

To link it, you connect it to the computer via a USB cable, with your Aid settings open on the computer. Then you’ll be able to use it as a remote control as well. Then exit the software and save to ComPilot.

Quite simple really. I’m quite shocked as how poor some audiologists knowledge are.

Did the audiologist add the Roger program within the hearing aid programs or on the ComPilot programs? Sounds like she added it via the hearing aid programs which means it won’t work via the ComPilot.

It is possible to do.

That’s a reset, but not factory reset. Note at the bottom, “the configuration status and the grouping to the hearing aids are kept.”

What if that is exactly what you are trying to remove?

WH

Yes tried that but as you say it doesn’t clear the connection to specific HA’s.

Got another appointment at the Audiologist who will hopefully be able to reset it or group it to my HA’s,

That removes the bluetooth pairing as well, but to identify
(Group) to the hearing aids,yes you need to use target software to do that.

Success!!! :smile:

So the “HearWear” service based at the Royal Surrey Hospital were able to pair the Compilot (II) to my Nathos Auto M’s. The TVLink, RemoteMic and Roger Pen (via the Roger X in the Compilot) all work perfectly. The Roger Pen in particular is brilliant!, a revelation in group settings :sunglasses:

My next quest is to try and get the remote settings to work. It seems that this functionality was supported on the Nathos M’s (Venture Platform) by the Phonak RemoteControl App through the Compilot. The RemoteControl App has now been superseded by the MyPhonak App. Sadly the MyPhonak App only supports direct connections via Bluetooth to newer Marvel and Paradise HA’s NOT to/through the Compilot :roll_eyes:

According to Phonak’s website the RemoteControl App isn’t supported beyond IOS 13 and so is now unavailable for download. FAQ - RemoteControl App | Phonak

The RemoteControl App allowed adjustment of “Speech in Loud Noise” and “Speech in 360” So I can’t use these features.

Is there anyway to download Phonak RemoteControl App? It might still work (unsupported) on later versions of IOS :thinking:

I’m thinking it’s probably better to start a separate thread on this?

@markc55555

I couldn’t get the App to work on my iPhone which has iOS 15.

EDIT - it can’t find my ComPilot even tho it’s in pairing mode and Bluetooth is on.

Perhaps they withdrew it because it wasn’t very good :thinking:

Shame that the MyPhonak App only connects directly to HA’s via Bluetooth. If they rolled in the Compilot (II) support mere peasants like me with the “old”, but new to the NHS, platforms (Venture) could have benefitted as well :cry:

@markc55555

The Speech in 360 can be set to Auto to change direction as needed. Also there’s a tick box as well, so if you press, your left, it’ll zoom to the left. Same with the right.

If you do press the left because speech is coming from the left, if the speech changes direction, the Speech in 360 program will then change direction.

Hope that makes sense.

The RemoteControl App allowed you to select which side/front/back to zoom but in a way, your Aids can do it automatically.
