Phonak Naida Lumity 30 UP - My own voice and people close to me disappears in noisy environments

Yes, I changed molds. Before I used “half shell” and now I use a new “full shell”. In none of them I had the Venting orifice

Yes, other doctors have told me the same thing, my hearing is very complicated.

No, my new doctor did not transfer my old settings from another brand of hearing aid. the truth is that these new phonak hearing aids sound almost identical to my previous hearing aids only if I select the “Music” program, I am satisfied even though I have a hard time understanding what I am being told. My only complaint is that my voice disappears in noisy environments (until you are speechless), which has never happened to me before.

I am happy for you, that you can hear and understand better with cochlear implants.

Thank you for the details.

This comment about the music program tells us you do best with less noise reduction from the aids. You need to tell your audiologist this information. The hearing aids can be adjusted to have minimal noise reduction from all programs. Try to keep all settings in each program similar with less differences. This will help you steady your hearing to hear better. Let your brain do the decision making, not the aids. Also ask about Sound Recover. Find out how it is set up in those aids. It helped me a lot when I wore hearing aids. It takes time for your brain to learn this new sound from Sound Recover so be patient.

We have a few pros on this site that are very knowledgeable. Maybe with this new information you are sharing they will chime in to help. You have great hearing aids for your hearing loss. They are probably the best you can have for your hearing loss if set up correctly.

Good luck

Way back when my Paradise P90R’s were brand new I went through a period using “MUSIC” as the base program. I didn’t use “autosense” I had the dispensiing audi reset the base program to autosense. I figured that they were no longer “smart hearing aids” the way I had him set them up. My problem was the setup.

Thank you. Your words have given me a real lift. Lately, I’ve been feeling discouraged about spending so much money on these hearing aids. I hope things improve with proper programming.

To be more specific, my current personalized settings, created to my liking using the myphonak app: the “Music” program, have the following customized settings: in the “Equalizer Settings” option, I select the “Speech” option; in the “Noise Reduction” option, I have it completely reduced to “High,” in the “Directional Focus” option, I have it completely “Wide,” and in the “Dynamic” option, I have it untouched, half-balanced.

With this setting, I feel comfortable because it somewhat resembles my old hearing aids. But I still can’t understand speech.

Thank you for your good wishes. I hope for good results when I visit my doctor.

So the “Music” program was the one that started when you turned on the hearing aids?

I have Widex moment 440 with molded earmolds. Sometimes in noise the sounds are muffled and also my own and the voices of the conversation partners. Annoying and all noise reduction is removed from the hearing aids

Really? Is it universal with so much new technology?
My old hearing aids of other brands do not have this defect of completely hiding my voice and others in noisy environments.

Will it have a solution or not?
Does it have to do that I have the basic and essential version Phonak Naida Lumity 30 UP?

Yes. He was a gentleman. He encouraged me to use myPhonak and tell him if there were improvements.

Yes, this can be changed in target. Your HCP, or you, if you DIY.

Since we are talking about Phonak naida. Does anyone know why that when I listen to voices face to face it’s fine and clear. Yet when listening to the radio or CDs in the car it’s sounds tinny and echoey.

It is probably going into a program (speech in car) that is designed to help with voice understanding rather than other general acoustic performance. Let your HCP know what you want.

As I think about it, 30 level doesn’t have speech in car. So this must be a noise blocker. Put them in a custom program that reduces the noise blocking? Is there a music program loaded? I know the standard music program isn’t available, maybe have your audiologist program one as close as you can get?

My Naida M30 SPs only have “Calm Situation” and “Speech in noise” available in Autosense 3. It’s quite possible they are just switching to Speech in noise, as there are default levels of noise reductions there. Having said that, Calm situation also has a fair amount of default noise reduction, so it may even be the opposite??

“Music”, amongst other programmes IS available as an additional programme.

x2 the same applies in my case

Update: I had an appointment with my doctor on Thursday. My doctor told me it’s normal for my voice to disappear in noisy environments. That it must be something mental that makes me think my voice disappears. That the same thing happens to hearing people; they can’t hear others or themselves in noisy environments. I respect his thinking, but that’s completely false and ridiculous. How is it possible that I used to have hearing aids from other brands and even used amplifiers like the Trihear Convo hearing amplifier, and with them, I could always hear my own voice and that of the person next to me in any noisy environment? How is it possible that these current, expensive Naida Lumity L30 UP hearing aids cause my voice to disappear in such environments? Aren’t hearing aids supposed to help me hear my own voice and someone else’s in noisy environments?
So, I still haven’t solved any of this. I still don’t know why noise can still be heard in noisy environments, but my voice and that of the person next to me gradually fade away completely until it becomes silent.

Big red flag.
Do you have someone else you can go to?

No one else, he’s the only doctor who works with Phonak in my country. That’s why I’m coming to this forum, looking for a light in this darkness.

Have you considered self programming your aids?
There is a learning curve but very rewarding once the effort is taken. Big money saver!

Yes, I’ve considered it, but I’m still under warranty and would void the warranty if I program them myself.

In terms of hardware, do I just need the Noahlink Wireless connected to my PC and Phonak Target?

No that’s not true, where did you read that? In your case this may be the only way you’ll get the results your looking for.
Yes just target and Noahlink wireless is required, it’s all easy enough, just a little research and reading the user guides is usually enough to get you by.

Let’s say I get the Noahlink.
If I make a mistake while programming them and want to return to the settings the doctor established,
how do I get my current programming? Does the doctor need to send me the programming files created on my devices to date on a USB flash drive in their Phonak Target?
Will the doctor notice that I made changes from Phonak Target?
