It may help to try options at home and try to replicate the tricky acoustic environment with someone talking to you with a mask on. Then you can hear if the different programme is sharpening the speech for you (to over ride the muffling with the mask). Or just by listening to the radio or tv with speech and see which one sharpens it up best for you. Then you feel more confident before trying it “live”. I know it can be difficult to do this when you are actually in the situation.
