Phonak Marvel Bluetooth

Do the Marvel’s work with Compilots? I have four devices to pair.

No, the Marvels do not work with Compilots.

Have you thought of self programming? You can pick up a NOAK wireless on eBay for $200 and there is a forum on this site which will help you get the software. I would be reticent to do this without your audiologists support and backstop though.

Week 7 of my new Audeo M-90’s. I had my first remote appointment with my audiolgist. We did have some connectivity issues with my I-phone 7 but were able to connect using my wife’s I-phone 10. I decided to purchase a TV Direct device to see if that was more convenient to use than trying to pair and un pair when switching devices. The cost is a bit of a shock. I’ve purchased independent blue tooth transmitters and receivers off of Amazon to converts standard headphone to blue tooth and the cost is minimal. I beieve the TV Direct retails for around $300. It works great. I have it plugged in to our TV’s USB port for power so it comes on when the TV is powered up and it connects automatically when the TV comes on. I tried it with my laptop and it works equally well. The only challenge is if my wife tries to speak to me while the TV is on she has to remember to pause the TV or I can’t hear hear over the TV audio. So while this device is a great solution to the blue tooth connectivity issues…its still a bit of a dissapointment given the cost involved. I really don’t want to have to plug and unplug the TV Direct every time I’m watching a different TV or using a different device and the high cost is going to make getting a Device for each place I may want to use one cost prohibitive…Since I don’t have the tech knowledge to understand why this could not have been incorporated directly into the device, does anyone know if this was just a marketing decision to extract maximum dollars from their customers or is their a justifiable tech reason to need a separate device to accomplish this?

You can adjust the mix of TV vs. “regular” use with the Phonak Remote app. So dial it all the way to “Background” when your wife is talking, and back up when she’s done. Or pause the TV. Either of these is far preferable to playing withe the TV Direct cables!

Please let me know where you found these adjustments for the TV mix in Phonak remote.
FWIW- I don’t see them at all in Android.

If you are referring to the Phone Marvel M90’s and the “TV Connector”, I have both. The TV Connector can be found for less than $300 if you shop around.
If you want to hear your wife while you are streaming from the TV Connector, simply reach up and turn the volume down on the hearing aid itself. This will lower the volume on the TV Connector and increase the volume of the normal sound. It works in similar fashion as adjusting the “mix” on the app. When she is done talking or you are done listening you can turn up the TV sound the same way. iOS has the “mix” capability on the Phonak Remote App, I don’t know if Android does. To find out, while your app is set to the TV Connector, look for an icon just below the “Split” button. It is called Balance (which may cause confusion, let’s call it mix). If you have that open on the app and adjust the volume on your HA, you will see the “mix” change on the app… very cool. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips on the balance feature that is contained within the ap. It’s really about learning new habits. I spent the first few weeks never touching the control on the aid itself, only using the ap. It’s not yet second nature to reach behind my ear to adjust the volume. While using the TV connector my spouse is able to keep the volume on the TV at a low level and she can not hear that I have the volume up inside my ear. The M90’s are so discrete that its easy for her to forget that I’m listening in a different way than she is. I’m going to play with the balance but I think for me I’d prefer that she gets in the habit of pausing the TV if she wants to have a conversation about something she just saw on the TV. I may have to keep the balance setting much different if we decide to watch a movie with a group where they may be some ongoing conversation. I’ve looked on the web and have seen this device for less as well. Given the number of different TV’s and devices available that I routinely use I may be starting a collection of them. I’m still learning about the technology that Phonak uses to offer this feature and wondering if their is a more budget friendly option available. It is much, much easier to use that trying to pair using bluetooth.

I currently have a Phonak Audeo V70 with a CrosII. I connect to my phone, an iPad, work PC, and a home PC with Bluetooth. If I get a phone call while connected to another device, I will lose it. Not a problem with the ComPilot.

What HA would you recommend for my situation? I would prefer nothing around my neck, but I could live with it for the connectivity.

I’d probably suggest sticking with what you have. There is no ideal solution. A couple of possibilities: Go with Marvels and get TV streamers for computers. Some have been very frustrated at having to repair aids with multiple devices. If you have an iPhone, you could go with any made for iPhone device and use TV streamers from computers. Probably a better solution for lots of switching between devices, but not sure of Cros availaibility.

You go 8 days with battery closed? I open mine every night to save battery. They last six days. Size 13batteries.

Perhaps the device connected for one time. You can change it.

It is not right that the pair of Bluetooth device only connect for one time. I think there must have some other procedure so that a couple of Bluetooth device connect with the other device. You can contact an audiologist if you face such kind of problem.
Thanks

It’s a well-established fact that the Marvels will only pair with one device at a time (using Bluetooth Classic). I know this because I had a pair and my audiologist communicated extensively with Phonak about the issue. I returned them because there is no work-around and Phonak has not committed to fix this issue.

Hi Daryl,

I just can’t let misinformation slide by without a correction.

You state that you returned your Marvels because “there is no work-around”. Quite frankly if you’re wanting to pair with other devices, that isn’t true. The work-around is simple and I do it every day! I use a Google Pixel 3 XL phone. When I want to pair with another device I have, I choose to “Forget” what is currently paired and then pair with whatever new device I want. When I want to go back to the previous device, I “Forget” the current pairing and then pair to the first device again.
Granted, you do have to understand what you are doing and how pairing to different devices works with the Marvels. And granted, the way Phonak has the Marvels configured the need for pairing and un-pairing is a pain in the butt. But there definitely is a “work-around” to pair to more than one device. I have 3 computers, two tablets, and one smartphone and I can pair to any one of them whenever I want, just not all at the same time.

I’ve had my Marvels for 5 months and have absolutely no intention of returning them.

darylm, please understand that this post has nothing to do with you as a person and is definitely not a personal attack on you. I would like to still consider you a friend.

I wouldn’t return mine either because they have worked quite well for me. They even allowed me to hear and understand speech through my right ear when I had fluid buildup behind the eardrum and couldn’t hear much at all on that side otherwise.

Gary, I don’t know why you insist on twisting the facts. If you’re going to accuse me of posting misinformation, at least get your own facts straight. It’s a well-established fact that the Marvels can only pair with one device at at time. You may not like to hear that, but that doesn’t change that it’s a fact. Your “work-around” is required because of that very limitation. There is no way to pair Marvels with more than one device at a time, at least not currently. Phonak may or may not fix this in the future. Unless or until they do fix this problem, it remains a fact.

Daryl,
I replied to you partly because ever since you returned your Marvels, you have been on a one man crusade to discredit the Marvels every chance you can find. C’mon Daryl, that is also a fact.

The “facts” that you “twist” and that I “twist”, if you really look at this with an open mind, is nothing more than how to use the Marvels. All that is wanted is to connect the Marvels to different devices.

Yes, the Marvels can only connect to “one device at a time”. Have you ever wanted to listen to two audio streams at exactly the same time? That might be a bit confusing for some. I actually want my Marvels to connect to only one device at a time.

The Marvels CAN connect with multiple devices, with the simple caveat that you must “Forget” the current pairing in order to do it. That simple step takes only a few seconds of time to do. When you do that, the Marvels CAN connect to multiple devices.

You hammer on that fact by implying that since they can connect to only one device at a time and imply that once connected you cannot connect to any other device.

You had to return yours because, in your own words, “there is no work-around”.

Good grief man, did you ever even try the “work-around” I described that in fact works just fine? The Marvels actually CAN connect to multiple devices. “Forget” and “Cancel” the current Bluetooth connection or “pairing” and start a new “pairing” with whatever device you want. This is NOT rocket science. I do it all the time. Others on the forum have said they also do it.

Can you see that you and I are each hammering on accomplishing the same thing, and that’s using the Marvels with multiple Bluetooth devices? Isn’t the goal to use the Marvels with different devices? You are saying there is no “work-around” to do that and I am saying there is, in fact, a “work-around”.

Can we just agree on this and stop all this nonsense?

Id like to expand on this a bit. Im on my 2nd pair of Marvels now because something happened with the bluetooth on my other pairs, that they had to issue me brand new ones with new serial numbers.

as for connecting to bluetooth, honestly they tell you can can only be connected to one thing at a time and this is correct, however you do not need to unpair every device at least for me i didnt. let me explain further

currently my HA’s are paired with 2 different computers, 2 phones, and 2 tablets, how it works is when i go to use computer “A” i turn on the pairing on my HA’s or just click connect under my devices and they are paired then when i am done i just disconnect and i can go connect to my phone etc…

my audiologist made it seem like a task to do all this and i went to extreme measures to unpair from each device everytime instead of just clicking disconnect. I can also confirm that if im connected to my phone listening to music or something and then i forget to disconnect and go to connect with say a tablet it connects to the tablet and disconnects me from the phone automatically.

so i dont know what my audi was talking about… it works fine at least from me. In fact i had more issues screwing around with trying to unpair everything before.
