I can use the hands-free feature that uses the HA’s mic. But with the L90-R I get a lot of complaints from callers about my audio. (I had a better experience in this regard with Philips 9040.) Is there a way for me to get the caller’s voice via my HAs but to use the iPhone’s mic for my voice?
When I make or get a call the phone gives me a menu of audio choices which includes R-Phonak hearing aid; Speaker; and iPhone. In order to be heard I’ve been using Speaker but I would hear better via the HAs.
Try to turn off your mike when on a call. (Put the HA in mute).
It mutes the HA mike while improving the sound for you and your caller.
Do not do this in perilous environments (crossing the road, in the car)…
I’ve also received complaints from callers saying that my voice sounds muffled and unclear. My audiologist can’t fix this issue through the software either. There are also no settings to disable the hearing aid microphones and have everything run through the iPhone microphone instead. Phonak is aware of this problem, but I doubt there will be an update to address it. Otherwise, I’m very satisfied with the devices.
I’ve experienced this and the solution for me was to clean the mics on the hearing aids with a soft brush. This was on my Phonak Nathos Novas. I now brush the mics regularly on my spheres as suggested by my audiologist.
I wondered about this 3 weeks ago. Probably yes.
But this hack works (Android) and the other person on the call reports hearing much clearer speech…
I also hear better but I am insulated from surrounding sounds.
I have my HA mic level automatically drop by 5dB when on the phone, it helps, but this workaround is better for me.
Will be asking my audiologist if this can be done on my L90-UP, didn’t know this was an option.
I also have the same issue that my HAs are unreachable via the myPhonak app (android) when on a call.
It’s because of this issue I avoid taking calls outside as the callers seem to be able to hear the background more than my speech. A rule of thumb I use is that if I can’t hear a person next to me in the environment without shouting then the caller wouldn’t be able to. As a result pretty much all of my calls are indoors. If I have to take the call outdoors I’m more likely to use the speakerphone and hold the phone up to my hearing aid.
Thanks for correcting me, the app on Android is also called My Phonak.
You can see that the mic is muted. Sound quality is much better.
The purple square appears on Android when you are in a call (HA or not). It only represents the initial of the person on the other side of the call.
Thank you very much! I don’t know if it works for iPhones either.
FlooGoo is an amazing company, and I cannot wait for their release of the FMA121, expected real soon! But would not want to have to add a module to the iPhone.
It could snap off, and just be awkward. I want to use the built in phone mic if possible, or to know that it is not possible.
I’ve had my audiologist walk me through the available Target options for my HAs and so I was able to enable the HA mute button (long press bottom rocker), but the HA mute button is still not an option during calls as it is programmed to hang up.
Maybe it needs to be programmed to a different button that’s not already mapped to its call settings?
