Phonak infinio I-90R Receiver Defect

I’ve been using infinio non sphere aids for the past two monthsm. I am with the VA so could not get the Spheres as they were not in contract but should be by May. Anyway, I am posting an odd issue that came up after visiting with my audiologist today. I was to be fitted with new titanium c-shell molds that came in. Only to learn that there’s a defect… Not with the receivers but with the HA itself. The audi is unable to remove the old receiver from the HA. Any attempts result in the receiver wire being stretched and ruined. Luckily my audi did a trial run on a demo unit first.

Has anyone heard of this issue with Phonak HAs?

The aid fitting is too tight. I have ruined four receivers removing them from the hearing aid on my sphere.

Phonak uses a non-rodded tension attachment for their receivers with the Infinio line. Widex does this too, but the Phonak attachment is problematically tight. We have found that getting a grip closer to the hearing aid and doing a prying motion helps, but we still hold our breath when we need to remove a receiver.

This video is not the latest, if you do that with cShells you’re dead…

Hmm. I currently have the default receivers that came with the Infinios. Plan is to remove them and replace with the new titanium c-shells. So which video should I follow to remove the default receivers? And I guess if I bork them, it just means I won’t have those to go back to after the swap.

I don’t know if the procedure in the second video works. I do know that I have ruined at least five receivers using the procedure in the first video. (that is a long story)

Suggestion

I volunteer as a beta tester.
I’ll check them out before they are released

Profound hearing loss. Engineer

I’ll test your best hearing aids and report I can assure you your product will be better.

Let’s go Phonak

I’m a 10 minute drive from the Phonak office in Mississauga. I pass it twice a day travelling to work.

@Michael_Phonak Serious offer!

@RalphR
Probably you already solved your problem as the topic now is already one month old. But maybe for people who get stuck in this also. I posted about this issue in October 2024 already.

There is a very small notch on the receiver side holding thight the receiver in the housing of the HA. So if you use a sharp instrument as a knife you can put it under the rim of the entrance place of the receiver and so dislodge it without pulling to much on the receiver. Otherwise you will break the electronic leads in the connection.
As @raylock1 reports his financial los also :cry:

Hopefully no financial loss. Aids and all cShell molds were returned about a month ago for replacement/remake. Audi reports that Phonak system is still showing “in process.” It has taken an extraordinary amount of time to get molds from Phonak, I guess since the processing location was moved to Mexico last year.

No I have not even tried to swap out my receivers yet. I’ve been hesitant in fear I would break my regular receivers which are working well for me. My custom titanium c-shells may make me feel too occluded so if I break my regular receivers pulling them out, then I won’t be able to go back to them. I plan to just wait it out for either a confirmed solution that works well for everyone or wait until May when I can get the Sphere model.
