Phonak Infinio "CROS", Trouble Hearing _Views?

!st Time using Hearing Aids, I was born Completely Deaf in Left Ear. I’m on Medi-Care. Contacted them and sent to ENT for Hearing Test. They also recommended Phonak Audeo Infinio CROS - COS I R ( Left / Bad Ear): Audeo I70-R Right Ear. ( I’ve waited a Long time for Something to be “INVENTED” for this Issue! * So now my problem, I’ve had these for almost a Month, Just not working well. Audiologist has changed program several times. I’ve called Phonak and They can’t help ( Asked for Local PHONAK Dealer? Who Knows “CROS” ; Said to call each one!? And Charge to Reset $$ ?. My Audiologist has stated several times She does Not know this product well. After my Next Visit and Some time I’m turning back in after Trial ( 60 Days). My Question, is This just Me> or should I try a diff. Brand? Mid Range (Voice is Low( Bag of Potato Chips will put me on the Ceiling!!! I have tried all the settings on App/// Thanks for any Help, Hopefully u can follow my situation !

Has anyone else had a problem with these Phonak CROS? Doesn’t seem to be Qualified Programer here. Is there a Better Cross hearing aid brand?
Again very little Volume, turned up all the way.
Thanks!!

Off hand, are you in an open dome when you should be in a closed dome? Hard to say what’s happening without knowing what the hearing loss is in your good ear and what hearing aids you’ve used previously.

The phonak audeo sound quality is fine, typically it has poor battery life compared to other cros devices, but sound problems seem like set up problems. Or expectation problems? I’d need more information.

I don’t live in a Dome? Let me know where one is…
My expectations are to be able to hear Midrange/Voice on Left side, Without the Crashing metallic sounds. I do Not expect to hear Directional (L to R).
My Audiologist knows Nothing about CROS Systems.Nothing.
I’ve spoke with Phonak, and said they will Send me a List? I must call each one and ask if they know CROS.And I’m to PAY for any Help.
I called the only one that Medi-Care provides and they do not have equipment to adjust.
My 60 Day trial is over in 2 weeks.current Audiologist on works 3 Days.
My right ear i have some Low / High hearing loss.
I’ve tried the TV headphones on left / CROS side and can barely hear on Right side…
I can do just as well with None as I have all my life …
Thanks for the Reply!

A “dome” refers to the part you insert in your ear. They can have lots of holes in them (open), small holes (vented) or no holes (closed). The other option to a dome is a custom mold which is custom made for each ear based on an impression or scan. The dome or mold used is critical to the effectiveness of the hearing aid.

Audiologist said these are only good for a couple to 3 feet front and back. She was on phone with Phonak Audiologist to reset. I’ll try another few days, and if they don’t work, I’ll return and Forget Hearing Aids or try another brand. But just not happy with them and I’ve tried several settings… Need to speak with a Phonak Audiologist/someone that knows these CROS Systems, better. No other Audiologist available here.
( Last person I spoke with at Phonak told me to go to another Place locally, not really customer Service I was expecting.
Thanks for your Help

Another clinician might be worthwhile, but you may also just not like a CROS. Without being able to see your audiogram it’s hard to know whether or not you really need a hearing aid in the right ear. Although, if you are complaining of high frequency sounds I might suspect that you have a substantial high frequency hearing loss in the right ear that the hearing aid is correcting and so everything is sounding a bit sharp right now as you get used to hearing sounds in that range again.

The volume toggle button on the CROS side controls CROS balance rather than volume. So for example, you can take the volume down on the right ear to make things a bit less sharp, and then take the volume up on the left ear to emphasize sound on that side and see if that makes a difference. If you are in an open dome, you may also consider sticking your finger in your right ear (over top of the hearing aid) to see if that makes a lot of difference in the volume and richness/midrange coming from the CROS side. Again, hard to know what you should be in without your audiogram.

In terms of functional benefit, a CROS really only gives you access to people sitting directly to your left without having to reposition yourself or crane your neck around. It often cannot provide enough speech-in-noise benefit to overcome the speech-in-noise issues caused by relying on only one ear, and if speech-in-noise is something you’re looking to improve you may be better off with a remote microphone system.

And yes, professional medical services cost money. I’m sorry the American healthcare system is so crummy for people who aren’t wealthy.
