I was fitted with my Audeo P70 13Ts the other day. I am still getting used to them but so far things are going well. The aids came with beige cShells and not clear as I expected and would have preferred. I wasn’t given a choice when ordering. I have the option of getting them switched now but it sounds like the aids would need to be sent back, which I don’t really feel like doing. Alternatively I could stick with the beige for now and switch when i get new receivers. If I went that route I could have them ordered as backups before the receivers fail. I’m not sure why that can’t be done now but I suspect it has something to do with how the trial period works.
Those of you who use cShells, what color do you use. If you have clear (or any other color), have you found that they discolor over time?
Ultimately I have to decide how strongly i feel about it. I know it doesn’t really matter but I’m not a fan of how much the beige screams “hearing aid” by trying to blend in, especially with the rest of the aid being almost invisible.
Most of the people I fit get beige. Clear isn’t completely invisible because you can see the internal components through the shell/faceplate. Totally personal preference.
I have a darker complexion. My hearing aid body is silver and the cShell is beige. The colour doesn’t matter as much to me as the ability to hear though. The great thing about this is you really do get to pick your colours and stuff.
Maybe you can just ask your audiologist if they can reach out to Phonak and see if Phonak can send the CShell with the receivers so they can be swapped out in the audi’s office - That way you don’t have any downtime.
Good to know. One reason to stick with the beige is any discoloration would be less noticeable. Sounds like this is less of an issue in general with acrylic molds. Silicone molds always “stain” with wax and become more opaque, so a clear mold eventually turns white.
Yeah, I know it wouldn’t be invisible, just what I prefer.
Yes, it sounds like this is an option, but not during the trial period. If I want to do it now I’d need to send the aids back. I’m going to confirm this though.
I have the clear cShell and I have not noticed any discoloration after one year. I used to have beige and was also not a fan. I’m happy with the clear color.
