Phonak Audeo Smart V acoustic signal "alarm"

Have been using phonak audeo smart V aids for 7 months. Today for the first time, after changing wax traps, domes and batteries, I am getting an acoustic signal in one or both aids that sounds like an alarm, alternating tones like a british police car. It stops for a bit after I open and close the battery compartment, but resumes again after a few minutes. My aids are programmed for volume control, not program control. Changing volume setting on one either aid doesn’t help. Can’t find anything in the users guide, on the phonak site or elsewhere on the internet explaining it. My aids are currently unwearable and I don’t have access to my audiologist until Monday. Help! :frowning:

I have found the old post above which no one replied to, but after googling it is the only thing I found that matches my problem too. My phonak audeo smarts have gone haywire! When I put them in, they start a blaring alarm noise alternating in each ear. Other people can hear it too. I’m panicking, don’t know what to do and will struggle to get an audiologist appt tomorrow.

Have you tried changing to a new battery?

I have seen this happen with others - it needs to go back to Phonak there is nothing you can do about it.
A repair is required and it will fix the problem - hope its still under warranty

As posted I’ve used these for two years and a flat battery warning is very different and a straight forward fix. To another that heard it, the alarm is between both HA’s and the tone alternates between the two. It is definitely a type of fault alarm.

Thanks Mike.I accidentally left them in the bathroom with lots of steam so I think moisture got inside them and possibly affected their connectivity to each other for them to both go off like that. Luckily after a few hours they came right with using a hair drier and leaving them under a lamp (I got lucky this time and won’t be making that mistake again!)

I find it interesting that after two years of ownership this thread was the only reference to the fault I could find of with google. I contacted Phonak on their facebook page as it wasn’t in their FAQ and they couldn’t tell me what it was and suggested I go into the nearest audiology clinic. Surely Phonak being the manufacturers would know what certain sounds mean!

I had same issue with alternating sounds from aids (Audio Smart). My audiologist never saw (heard) this before so she called Phonak techs. They told him to clean inside below the button because a speck of dirt/dust is pressing down on the senor. She cleaned and the sound is now gone! She suggested a little spurt of compressed air occasionally to keep the dust/dirt out. Fixed. Good Luck.
