like this. It provides a great sound that is realistic with good bass response. The one thing I don’t like about them, is the poor sound they provide in a auditorium, restaurant, or large crowded area. I always had to adjust the sound with the Phonak app. Recently, one of the wires broke and I had to replace both ear pieces with the following:
.
Now I don’t have to use the app to make adjustments, because the sound is fairly normal even when I’m in a large noisy environment. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
Yeah so you’ve gone from custom molds to a closed dome, did you make the necessary adjustments in target for this difference I wonder? but one would think when correctly set up the custom molds should out preform the domes, quite possibly the molds weren’t sitting correctly in your ear canal, what size vent were you using in the molds? can you post your audogram?
There is really one way they can fit into my canal. The doctor himself fitted me with them. The custom molds gave a more realistic sound when in his office, but as I said in my post, when I get in a restaurant or an auditorium, the sound quality tanks. Only when I was forced to go back to the domes, did I discover no problems in my church auditorium. The domes have more of a tinny sound, but I prefer that over not being able to hear people in a large room. I might be able to locate an aduiogram on my VA site later. Thanks for your input though!
@Wayneboy if you’re wearing the phonak M series, it’s time to get an appointment for a new hearing test, and the newest version of HAs.
Technology has advanced greatly since the Marvels.
Generally the VA will replace you aids every 3 to 4 years.
Although I haven’t got Infinio, I have Marvel x4, Paradise x1 and Lumity x1. I find them all very similar, although the Lumity L90 SP has a slight edge over my lowest spec Marvel M30 SP. I find all of them fully usable. The Bluetooth and switching are largely the same.
I find the biggest benefit is using the best dome/mo(u)ld for your loss/needs. Also, finding the best balance between the frequencies you need to hear, feedback and occlusion.
I’m no fan of Autosense, although I do have it as a switchable option in the Lumities.
Obviously, the Audiologist is the other major factor. I self programme all mine, so there’s a constant there (good or bad)
I can check on when my last new aids were issued, thanks for the reminder. I can remember at one appointment, the doc told me he was ordering new aids because of the covid lockdowns. It was probably 1 to 1-1/2 yrs before I was due for new aids, so I was ecstatic over the idea. It may be getting close to time for new aids again. Thanks so much for the unput!
