Depending on your area that seems very high to me I was quoted $5600 for the new Phonak s 9’s. That seems to be in the right ball park. I would definetly do some checking. But hey this is only my second post, what do I know? Good luck, Were both still learning!
Zuggie,
Seems high I was quoted $5,800 in May of this year and I live in the Bay Area. Everything is negotiable, even hearing aids. Make your Audi an offer that you think is fair and see where it goes.
I see you are in Indiana…I’m in Los Angeles… I appreciate so much your response
Yeah I guess EVERYTHING is more $$$$$$ in CA
Thank you for responding … Since you’re in the Bay Area I’ve got encouragement now.
OMG 8K vs. 5,500 … Who did you consult … I’ll call
Zuggie,
It was though Kaiser HA center.
Kaiser does not overcharge for their hearing aids. I have trusted their services for many years.
Google: West Coast Audiology in San Diego, the prices are posted on their website, which is very uncommon. A pair of Smart S IX is $3950 with the fitting verified using the latest REM/speech mapping equipment. The only catch: the price includes one year follow up programming, after the year is up you pay about $25 per visit. And actually, if they can’t get the fitting right within the 45 day trial period, you should return the hearing aids for a full refund anyway.
Modsevere,
I didn’t say Kaiser overcharges for their HA. They do mark them up and are actually a private contractor that works in the Kaiser system. I was told this by a few Kaiser Doctors that I know.
Phonak charges extremely high prices for their intruments, especially for those of us who don’t do a large volume with them. The 9s can cost up to $2000 per unit to the dispenser. Ouch. Then add on the cost of accessories, ear molds, batteries and service and you have yourself a pretty painful price tag.
I’ve had mine for a year, the local dispenser had them for $6000, I drove 45 minutes and got them for $4800.
You should not pay over $6,000.
I am very surprised by the pricing you mentioned above.
For Washington and Oregon state, Kaiser price is $5400.00 MAX fitting included.
Yes, they do mark up like all medical institutions I am aware of.
I live in France. I trialled a pair of Smart S IX for 10 weeks - nothing but trouble!!
The price quoted was 2500 euros the pair. I have seen them cheaper in the UK.
The prices are not fixed they tend to charge what the market will bear.
