A followup to my earlier post: https://forum.hearingtracker.com/t/phillips-9040s-and-music/81690
A little A/B testing. Again, not a pro. Just a guy who wanted it to sound better with streaming, from a device (radio, speakers), and while playing his guitar at home.
Phillips 9040’s with their “Hi-Fi Music” program added, tweaked as per the information found at:https://musicandhearingaids.org/
- Klipsch wired earbuds from my iPhone. HA’s in streaming with the Music program were noticeably better(!) This had been my past reference as to how poor my previous aids had been. If I wanted to really “hear” the music, out came the HA’s, and in went the buds. They are now definitively being retired!
- Modest quality OTE headphones for the computer. Harder to compare - headphones using the computer as a source. Without HA’s, full bass, sounded great. With HA’s in “General”, an improvement. With HA’s in “Music” - another level! Much broader range than I had heard before, with more “brightness” (but not overwhelming) on the high end. Again, the now preferred way to listen.
- Acoustic guitar - almost “too loud”, and I had to bump down the HA volume. As expected, a fuller range than I had ever heard my instrument put out before. Especially notable:
- I could actually EASILY tune my 12-string (those that know, know what a feat that can be!).
- NO overtones, warbels, or other artifacts
- And it seemed to be “in tune” up the scale far better. Maybe I don’t have to go to a luthier to get it fixed, after all.
So, even if you have another brand/model, go to https://musicandhearingaids.org/, read their info, and have a discussion with your audi about setting up a custom program using the advice. You too might be very pleased!
