Philips HearSuite "Speech Clarifier" feature?

The “Speech Clarifier” control is one of the Features settings:

  • This feature increases the contrast between speech and noise in noisy environments.
  • You can adjust the level as needed, depending on the client’s difficulty in hearing speech in noisy environments.

Anyone know what this feature is actually doing? It presents a control with Off, Medium (default), and High settings. What would be the tradeoff/downside of the High setting?

Thanks! Now motivated by your amazing sleuthing skills, I figured that image must be of a white paper, and I found the 20.2 White Paper in Philips’s Professionals Resource Center.

At this writing I’ve only skimmed the paper, but my guess is that the downside of setting the Clarifier “too high” would be distortion disproportionate to the speech clarity gain.
