Phantom steps counted with Phonak Life

So the app has been updated and I can now count my steps. But strangely enough they seem to count me walking at night and really early in the morning.

Anyone else had this?

during the phantom steps, are the units on the charger?

I found the steps on the P90s were close, but not as accurate as the smartwatch. I feel like we are early adopters and the Phonak health features will likely have bugs to work out as they roll this first generation out.

To be honest with you I really don’t need my hearing aid app counting steps

Maybe you are sleepwalker? I think your charger receives any vibrations, and hearing aids count this as steps? But they must switch off when charge. And if your hearing aids are battery powered - it is a software glitch.

Step count doesn’t work with disposable batteries.

Curious @garth and @richardsondc, what specific hearing aid models and phonak app version are you using? I would like to report this back to Phonak! Hopefully I can get you two some help on this issue.

Hi

I have the Audeo Life and use a Pixel 6 Pro phone with latest Android 12 with July security update

I’m not sure what versions of software I had then as everything has been updated since is suspect.

The app is 6.1.0 (I know as I’ve been trying to talk to Google and get the Bluetooth battery drain issue looked at or sorted as they don’t last a day connected)

So this has only happens the first couple of nights I had them. It’s not happened since so.

Thank you for the info Garth. Glad to hear things resolved for you.

It’s a basic piezo-ceramic beam accelerometer. It doesn’t know if you’re walking or head-banging your pillow.

Take all these measurements with a pinch of salt. The aren’t measuring ’steps’, just skeletal vibrations.

Ha ha, that makes sense.

Maybe phonak should just concentrate on hearing aids.

Oh yeah absolutely, I can’t believe they even thought of offering any thing like this, they must of been thinking the younger generation would want/like it, next will be a laser beam level.
