Oticon tv adapter 3.0 audio output Issue on Sony Bravia tv

Hello,

My father recently got the oticon tv adapter 3.0 but I’m having trouble getting the sound to play through his hearing aids at the same time. I followed the instructions from YouTube etc,the toslink cable is plugged into the optical out port on the tv and the correct program is selected in the oticon app. The hearing aids are definitely connected to the adapter but the audio doesn’t play into his hearing aids unless I change the audio output on the tv but this then stops sound coming out of the tv speakers.
The tv is a Sony Bravia 4k and it’s not that old.
Has anyone experienced this issue before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Sony Bravia and use a Phonak Roger and TV connector at different times after much fiddling.

Here is what I found from reviewing Sony’s website:

To enable [Optical digital audio output], press the (Quick Settings) button on the remote control, then select [Settings] — [Display & Sound] — [Audio output] — [Optical digital audio output settings] — [Optical digital audio output]

I’m also outputting sound through HDMI cables while also using the TV’s speakers.

Somewhere in the settings was a Selection for Pass Thru Output…This is what I finally selected to simultaneously “PASS” sound to the Toslink while also using the built-in speakers.

Good Luck,

David

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Changing the output to audio system will it get it to play audio into the hearing aids but that stops it from coming out of the speakers.

Unfortunately that is the options, unless you can connect the TV adapter to the sound system.

I gave mistaken advice earlier. By selecting Audio System, I send the toslink output to a toslink splitter. One output goes to the TV adapter and the other to my high end audio system. The audio system is older and can’t use the latest HDMI in connections but can accept toslink for the sound. Doing this, sound is present to the room and the aids simultaneously. I benefit from the strong bass and lower frequencies that pass through the aids microphone and simultaneously hear the dialogue improvement through the aids.

I believe that you can make this work. The Oticon 3.0 box has an Digital Optical Audio Output on it. So, the Bravia will send the signal to the Oticon 3.0 box and it will forward it to a Soundbar. I have a ZVox Soundbar and have used it in this way with my LG with an Oticon 3.0. I believe that this will work for you too. Look on Ebay for a used one…or get another Soundbar that takes this input.

Please let me know if this solves you problem
