I have read several posts here from the Oticon gurus that it is best to just put the noise reduction to whatever is the max for your particular model of HA and leave it there.
I realize that the programming will only use it to the extent that it is needed but is there any downside to keeping the max. Why doesn’t the Genie software default to the max if this is the ideal situation?
No idea about mentioned guru’s, but my understanding of speech lowers if I max out the noise suppression on my Real 1’s.
So for me it’s a trade off. If my girls are loud, I switch to a program with maximum noise suppression. Otherwise I pick up more of what’s said in the general program.

This is what the audiologist said when I was fitted with the Oticon Xceed.
Not sure why.
