I have Oticon More 1 miniRITEs that I have been using for two years. Recently the aids have started randomly to fade out – usually for for about 5-10 seconds, but sometimes a little longer – before fading back in. It happens in both ears simultaneously. It’s very noticeable even when nobody is talking because of the way high frequency background noises like HVAC vents, refrigerators, etc., disappear. As far as I can tell, I lose all hearing aid function. It sounds just like if I were to turn my aids off, except for the lack of chimes and the fading out and in of the sound.
Unfortunately, it’s completely unpredictable. It may not happen for a couple of hours, then it might happen a few times in just a few minutes. I can’t identify any pattern or find any way to reproduce it reliably. For a while I thought it happened more when I was in small spaces, but I now think that was just coincidence. I feel like if I just go to my audi she’s not going to be able to detect anything, so it could be very hard for her to deal with.
When they are not fading out, they work fine. My right aid was replaced about a month ago because of a failed button, but as far as I know nothing else has changed. Does anyone have any ideas?
