I’m trialing a pair of Oticon More 1 HAs. According to Oticon’s site, they should be compatible with my samsung galaxy s20FE, but Oticon also uses the ASHA bluetooth protocol, which does not seem to be compatible with the S20FE. Am I missing something here, or does Oticon simply not want to work with Android phones. Andorid vs 13 is on the phone now. I’ve tried everything, but can’t stream calls from the phone.
If your S20FE doesn’t have support for ASHA, then you will need to buy a ConnectClip to stream between your More 1 and the S20FE through standard Bluetooth. If you have an Android phone that supports ASHA, then you should be able to connect it directly to the More without needing a ConnectClip.
Thanks, but as I meant to say, the Oticon list of supported devices shows the S20FE as comptaible, but when I checked for ASHA, the S20FE does not support ASHA. So I don’t think these aids are going to be the right ones for me.
I think there is a minimum Android version needed too.
It’s entirely possible that Oticon made an assumption that the S20FE would have ASHA support at the time it created that list. But then Samsung couldn’t get the ASHA support into the S20FE like originally plan.
I think if you don’t want an intermediary like the ConnectClip to work between your aids and your S20FE, the only option you have is to go with the Phonak brands like Marvel or Paradise or Lumity. They do have standard BT support for those aids to work with your S20FE directly. All the other brands, Oticon included, will require ASHA support on Android phone for a direct connection.
Yes, I’ve got version 13 which is the latest.
Last I checked in my region, S20FE was not compatible with Oticon More. I remember that because I chose to buy a S10 instead.
Edit: you are right though, here and here say it is compatible.
Perhaps compatibility varies by country.
