The Oticon Companion App gets lots of bad reviews for connectivity - not connecting or dropping connection. (2.3/5 on both Google Play and Apple’s Appstore, lots of disappointed and outright angry user comments.) Who has experience with that app - is one OS more affected than the other? Please write about your experience, esp. which hard- and software you use.
I have the Oticon INTENT1 aids and a Samsung S23 phone, i use the companion app 1.4 and have no issues with connectivity. But the Samsung S23 gives me Bluetooth le audio for my aids. By the way I have the Real1 aids as my backup aids and have no issues with the app with them either.
I have used the companion App 1.4 with the Samsung S20 FE for a couple of months and then with my iPhone 15, without any problems at all. It is pretty reliable.
The only slight negative is that it takes about 30 seconds or more to connect to my aids (Xceed or Intents). I just have to remember not to close the App, as one will need to reconnect again.
Otocon Companion version 1.4.0, Pixel 6a running android 15, Oticon Intent 1 f/w 1.1.0.
Rock Solid.
I wrote a 1 star review when the app was 1st released, and didn’t even use it until the newest version.
I need to go to the play store, and update to 5 stars!
If users update their phones, Hearing aids, and the app, they’d be much happier.
I hopefully will finally get my INTENT1 firmware updated this Friday. Hopefully it will fix connectivity issues i hve with my connect clip.
Let me know, I gave up on my CClip, and would like to put it back in service (I’ve got 3 of them, now).
I actually have 4 connect clips, my connect clips are mostly working with wirh my INTENT1. And work great with my Real1 aids. I use the connect clip for streaming audiobooks from my Samsung Tablet and my Fire tablet. Every once in a while with my INTENT1 the sound drops from one or the other aid then cycles back to working .
The other issue with my INTENT1 and connect clip is the connect clip completely hogs the aids and I can take a call from my phone.
Thanks for your reply! In general, how would you describe the difference between the Real1 and the Intent1 - not with regard to connectivity to the companion app, but in overall HA performance?
That is a tuff question. Connectivity wise woth my Samsung S23 phone is the same solid as a rock. Sound wise you can beat the INTENT1 aids. But i must tell you this. I have a huge advantage in my audiologist we have spend the last 6 years prefecting my hearing aids fitting. And I have been using Oticon aids for almost 15 years now.
Oticon Intents with Oticon Companion 1.4.0, Pixel 8 with Android 15. Rock solid connectivity with BT LE. No complaints here.
I have Oticon Intent 1 aids. I almost never use the app. The exception generally is if I am in a music venue and I want to fine tune (to the extent possible) what I am hearing. Beyond that, the app is pretty much useless to me. Since I rarely use it, I rarely have the opportunity to experience connection issues!
Absolutely! I ended up pairing the aids to the CClip, and the Clip to the phone.
It seemed pretty solid that way.
