Oticon Companion App: Connect multiple pairs?

I’m on the verge of upgrading my hearing aids from Oticon More 2 to Oticon Intent 1. My fitting appointment at my new audiologist is next Wednesday. I’m planning to demote my More 2 to backup and possibly dog-walking duty.

This got me thinking. Can I connect both pairs of hearing aids to the Companion app and easily switch between them?

Some googling indicates no, but I wanted to check with some NI (natural intelligence) to see if anyone on the forum knows differently.

It sounds it would be a multi-step process to switch hearing aids. Not sure I want to do that every time I take the dog out.

No you can only have on set of aids connected to the companion app. When it was available I had the companion app and the beta version of the app. And both could be paired to my Samsung app. But the IOS devices can only have a set of aids paired to it.

Maybe there’s not a lot of demand for something like this, but I think it would be a useful extension to the app. How about other vendors? Does Phonak support pairing with multiple sets? Others?

You could connect a Sonova set as well as the Oticon set. One on MFI and one via conventional Bluetooth.

I’m not saying you should do this, but seeing as you’re upgrading, take a pair of the Unitron Smile 9 for a spin if you can get a free trial on them………

Yes. I haven’t actually tried it, but I suspect that you could pair aids from two different vendors into two different apps at the same time on the same phone. I know that the Philips app is different than the Oticon app (but actually exactly the same) because I had it installed for awhile to compare the two apps, but I never had aids paired. I’ve already selected the Intent aids. We’ll see how it plays out.

You could probably pair a huge number of sets of aids with a phone for streaming/calls etc. BUT: One set per myphonak app. There are reports of folks using the youth version, and versions for other Sonova brands with their Phonaks. But I have no experience beyond pairing both my p90s and my i90s with my phone for calls & streaming. I use the app on the phone for my i90s, and the iPad for the p90s. But that happens infrequently that it is really a non issue. If I were swapping back and forth daily, it might be more of a problem, but for once a month or so, I just forget them and re-pair what I’m using then. I let the p90s out of the barn to stretch their legs now and then. Battery mgt and whatnot.
