Oticon Autophone Question

I am programming Oticon Opn MiniRite (no telecoil) and I am confused about the Autophone feature.
How does the HA know that I have put a phone to my ear in order to activate Autophone?
(This appears to only be active on the ear with the phone. I see that the other ear can be attenuated or muted)
In order to get the phone call in both ears, do I have to set up a separate Phone program and then select “both ears”
Thanks,

Don’t think Oticon are capable of going to both ears unless you’re using Bluetooth.

Thanks, I will have to do some experimenting to see what’s possible.

I have now done some research and experimentation.
Even though I don’t have telecoils, the HA’s do detect the magnet in a regular phone.
I added a phone program as P2 and selected both ears. I then selected P2 as the program to use when a phone is detected.
When I put a regular phone to my ear I get the program change ping but nothing else happens. I hear the phone in one ear and it sounds just the same as when using P1.
Although the Genie 2 documentation suggests otherwise, it seems to me that the Autophone feature is intended for HA’s with telecoils. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks,
