update 2.23 everything works?
will it remain as it was 2.19?
Sure, you shouldn’t have any problem, but why are you updating the firmware, is there something you need, or is the software forcing you to do it?
thank you, I’d better ask so there are no problems
I updated it then updated my Oticon firmware. So far so good.
Oh, I took this firmware update for Noahlink Wireless a while back. Here’s a clip from a DIY School PDF file named (04 Noahlink Wireless - Instructions For Use); HIMSA considers it safe to update Noahlink Wireless firmware because Noahlink Wireless firmware is always backwards compatible with previous firmware versions. Therefore I also consider it safe to update Noahlink Wireless firmware!
Tip: You can click-to-enlarge.
The thing to remember, is you don’t have to upgrade firmware unless it’s absolutely necessary, this goes for HAs, Apps or something else, a few people have bricked devices for nothing more then so called “bug fixes”
HIMSA says; “Updated versions of the Noahlink Wireless firmware are posted on the HIMSA website when released to HIMSA Member Companies. It is not necessary to update the firmware in the Noahlink Wireless to latest version until the fitting module you work with requires it. At that time the fitting module may prompt for the Noahlink Wireless to be updated, or the company will notify you it is time to upgrade. Noahlink Wireless firmware is always backwards compatible with previous firmware versions. This means that you can safely upgrade your Noahlink Wireless firmware without worrying about losing the connection with your fitting software”.
So I don’t mind taking a Noahlink Wireless firmware update.
Did you notice HIMSA’s words that said “or the company will notify you it is time to upgrade”? Like I said in the DIY School PDF document named ( 04 Noahlink Wireless - Instructions For Use) in red letters;
Well DIYers don’t have a company. So, there’s that!
This is the bit I was referring to.
As for the company notifying you bit, yeah sure I saw it, HIMSA notifys through the module (software) anytime they want you to update, if it’s a forced update you can’t use the Noahlink in that particular situation untill you do.
So yeah, you don’t have to update, this isn’t so much about backwards compatibility, more a “try not to brick” your perfectly working device just to get some " bug fixes " not just for Noahlink wireless mind you, but any other device you may be using, so if you lose connection at any time for whatever reason when updating, you can end up with a brick.
Yes but to make your point, you left out the very next sentence about when to upgrade, backwards compatibility, and this means safely upgrade without worry. So I’m not gonna worry?
Sure no worries then, me I won’t bother unless I have to, my biggest concern when I’m upgrading firmware is App or software crashes (or accidentally disconnection of cables) right in the middle… always stressful.
For hearing aids Yep me too!!
I’ll revive an old thread. I noticed my Target software was informing me that a firmware update was available for my NOAH Wireless. Any reason to do it or not do it? I also think I remember reading about a new version of NOAH Wireless coming out? Thanks.
I did it a few weeks ago and all okay.
Not sure what it actually improved tho.
I never recommend updating unless it’s absolutely necessary, it’s the Noahlink wireless your talking about right, and yes a new version is supposed to be released, it’ll be backwards compatible.
My noahlink wireless shows version 2.24, which is also the latest on the noahlink site
