There’s an article in the April 28th issue of the New Yorker called “Onward and Upward with Technology: Subtitling Your Life,” by David Owen. Among other things, it looks at Google Transcribe as well as eyeglasses that have captioning. It’s a very interesting article!
Since I am reading the magazine using a library app, I can’t link to the article, but I think it’d be worth reading if you have a way to access it.
I got a chance to try on a pair of captioning glasses at CES 2025. I was impressed. Theres a bright future with these captioning glasses. Also, the live transcription (and translation) tech has been getting so much better in the last couple years.

In a multi racial country in Asia, it is very confusing and troublesome when this group of people are sitting around a table. I am not how the subtitling is going to work.
That sounds like a challenging situation! I don’t think that the transcription app development has included multiple languages yet
