My first post here and my first hearing aids. I’m unfamiliar with the usage of some short forms and wish there was a guide to help me understand. However, I have ITE Rexton Reach from Costco, had them for just over one month. I can’t hear at all in a crowded room. Does anyone know if this is adjustable in these HA’s? I can hear normal voices better with them but I could do that with over the counter ones.
There are several things you can try, I find in noisy places using front direction focus helps. Or you could try using the noise program
Why’d you go ITE, should of given the RIC a trial for better features, those Rexton are the same as the Signia Silk, yeah so you’ll need some additional adjustments to try and see if they can actually do any better in noise.
The CIC-Style Rexton Reach (Signia Silk) have only one microphone on each hearing aid. So no focus to front is possible with this HA.
For front focus you need two microphones in each HA. So RIC or BTE style have front focus , or a full shell ITE with two microphones per ear.
I did change the focus as it was set at all round, but the ambient noise was still too loud.
I don’t know the noise programme. I only have what has been programmed into the Rexton App.
The RIC version of the Reach is brilliant for hearing in noise. I can sit in a noisy restaurant and hear people at my table just fine, no straining. Do you have the option to exchange for a different set?
I’ve just had a visit to try and fix this and I now have a programme that’s supposed to help. I’ll find out if it works next time I’m in a crowd. Also fixed the constant background shshsh sound.
Also about the directional focus that I thought I had, I was told it wouldn’t work with these aids.
Timfoil. As a newbie I didn’t know what is available, I wasn’t aware of the RIC’s. However, as my reading glasses cause pain above the ear when worn too long I presume any behind the ear HA’s would do the same. I may be wrong. I do have the noise programme to try now.
Timfoil. Are the Rexton RIC’s compatible with a Mac? If I get hearing aids that need a PC I could get a small laptop to use with them.
