New Member - Asking for Advice

Hi there.
I recently had hearing tests done by a “hearing aid specialist” - at my ENT’s office. (I thought I would be seeing an audiologist - that wasn’t the case). Of course, they tried to sell top of the line, most current (and pricey) hearing aids. I have worn hearing aids for about six years, but I’m fairly certain it’s time for new ones.

I was told I have moderate sensorineural loss in both ears. I can’t go to my previous audiologist, because I have moved recently.

Just wondering if I posted my audiogram printouts, if someone (as many as willing), might take a look at them, and be able to tell me - if I purchased hearings aids from Costco would be a good decision. Do you think they have HA’s that could/would help me with my hearing loss?

Cost is a big factor for me, as my current employer’s insurance does not cover hearing aids.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Updated:
I’ve just added copies of my audiogram results.
I’d appreciate opinions on my hearing loss and what kind of hearing aids might help me.

Costco would be good choice on budget. Phllips or Jabra offered some good HA’s for your type of hearing loss. You can trial 6 months before deciding which one is suitable…

Yep. Go to Costco. They can handle your loss.

Pricing back in March 2023 was $1600 or 1700 for a pair (Phillips and Jabra, respectively) depending on model. I assume it hasn’t changed.

Thanks for your replies.

After much research (mostly within this forum and articles found within this website), I’m leaning towards trying/trialing the Phillips 9040. I’ve read the Phillips is similar to Oticon, which I am currently using.

I currently use ear molds, and will ask for custom ear molds from Costco. I know that will be an extra cost, but because of a fairly active/busy lifestyle, I feel they are less likely for me to lose, or to fall out without me knowing. (I need to be able to do my job, without worrying about losing a hearing aid).

** I’ve also read molds can improve the quality of hearing, when wearing HA’s. ** I don’t mind wearing them. Any pros/cons you know about my plan to continue to use ear molds?

BTW, I’m not nearly as “techy” as it sounds so many in this forum are.
Also, my current Oticons don’t have many of the adjustments and features newer aids apparently have. With my current pair, when I first got them, they were adjusted for me, handed to me, and I just went on my merry way, happy to be hearing better.

So please bear with me, I may be tapping your brains occasionally, as I transition to new aids. BTW, my first appointment/hearing test with my local Costco isn’t until July 13.

Thanks again.

many of us use Costco. I do, I found them at least as knowledgeable as the box hearing aid sellers that were far more pricey. Go with Costco, your loss is easy to fit, and you will be fine.
