Need to change my email

My email provider has disconnected my email. The email I signed in with yesterday has closed down. How can I change it please?

The short answer is related to the following message by your primary e-mail address in your account profile. It says the following (if it’s the same as mine!): “Email can be updated from authentication provider.” That means, for example, if you didn’t like a Gmail address you were using, you’d go into your Google account and pick a new e-mail address as your primary e-mail address. Then it would be automatically set up on the Hearing Tracker website by a relay from Google.

If, for some reason, you can’t reset your e-mail address as you wish with your past provider, the ChatGPT answer is that you’d have to get the Admins of this Discourse website to manually switch you to whatever new e-mail address you provide. Otherwise, as you probably realize, you’ll lose your previous account history if you create a new login account. Abram has told me (because I was pestering him a lot about being unable to login! :slightly_smiling_face:) that he won’t be available through the weekend because of previous commitments. So, unless another HT Admin is available, you’ll probably have to wait until next week to get things straightened out.

Somehow, because of the SPAM bounce, I lost my HT e-mail notifications since 1/15/23 and barely noticed because I visit the site almost every day and look at my notifications, responses, etc., on the site itself. So, hopefully, we can all get by a few more days until Abram has a chance to check things out more.

Thanks Jim I’ll wait till someone else can give me assistance. As anything more complicated IT wise is beyond me. I went to school with chalk and slate board not a computer.

I’m with you there. As a prognosticator of the future, I’ve failed miserably on several memorable occasions.

As a graduate student in 1970, I went into the department stockroom. There, several of the stockroom staff were gathered around something I’d never seen before, one of the first electronic calculators, which could only add and subtract, not even multiply or divide. It had big large nixie tube displays (LEDs hadn’t been invented yet). The staff excitedly told me that such devices were going to change the world. They had an Intel microchip inside with multiple transistors on one chip. I scoffed at the electronic device as the ponderously big mechanical calculator that was upstairs in the lab I worked in could multiply and divide! It’s kinda like telephone booths and landlines… Has anyone seen a mechanical calculator that can multiply and divide recently…

Jim the counters/calculators we used were abacus counters. You could only add and subtract on these as well.

I have the same problem, I closed my email account used by this site and can’t get back in. My old user name is hcsekin and I an currently using snah76 and would like to get access to my old user name
